Quote:
Today, a number of accounts which were confirmed to have violated the user agreement by using unauthorized third-party software tools within FINAL FANTASY XI to enable abnormal in-game movement were discovered and have been suspended or permanently terminated.

Based on the results of our investigation, over 7,450 PlayOnline accounts were terminated while over 250 accounts were temporarily suspended indefinitely.

The breakdown for the suspensions is as follows:

- Accounts confirmed using third party tools to illegally move their characters:
400 cases

- Accounts confirmed using third party tools to give an unfair advantage over other
players in order to get claim on Notorious Monsters.
4400 cases

- Accounts confirmed using illegal means to obtain items
100 cases

- Accounts from people that were previously confirmed to have RMT connections, or that had violated the user agreements but re-subscribed to PlayOnline.
2800 cases

The results of our investigation resulted in the confiscation of over 6.2 Billion gil

We would like to take this time to remind our players that the use of any third-party tools will not only destroy the in-game balance, but will also encourage RMT (real money trading) activities. We will continue to take strict actions against those individuals that we have confirmed to have used such tools.

Please note that some of these third-party tools may cause character information to be altered, erased, or personal information to be leaked to unwanted third parties. If you come across a third-party tool over the Internet, we ask that you please refrain from the download of such a tool, no matter how minor it may appear to be.

While we did not include a RMT heading in this announcement, RMT related activities are being investigated by a separate group and we plan to act on the results of this investigation at a later date. With the newly revised policies in effect, our GM teams are not only pursuing the buy and sell of gil, but also the illegal actions by RMT affiliates who seek to control certain areas within FINAL FANTASY XI with the purpose of furthering RMT related activities.

As of Dec. 10, the development team implemented a fix to prevent items from being obtained in an illegal manner. Action has been taken against accounts that participated in these activities.

To ensure that our customers can enjoy the game safely, we will continue to apply measurements to combat these third-party tools and violations.

We thank you for your cooperation and understanding in this matter.

And on top of that, FFXIAH.com shows that ifrit took a hit, prices on items dropping a whole 5% in a single day. This makes me , because I'm still wanting prices to go lower.

BTW... the Kraken Club was removed from Lord of Onzozo and now drops for a BCNM60 3-person fight.

Will be funny to see 5-6 DRK SE Kraken down the HP of an HNM. Well that is if this BC60 doesn't have the worst drop rate ever. I have plenty of beastmen seals lol.

I loved messing around with the old CKD one. I wouldn't mind having one for farming purposes, or something, but I'm sure everyone and their uncle are saying the same thing.

Holy crap that's a lot of accounts. They've never banned that many.

That's pretty funny. They could probably just stop them from subscribing at all but it's like they do this just to collect the monthly fee then ban them again. I quit with something like 700 beastman seals. haha

The droprate is ass. People are keeping tabs on how many tries they've had. I guess collectively, 57 groups have done it so far, and they've received 0 Kraken Clubs yet. So 0/57.

I'm sure it's like a 1% thing.

The info on the BC apparently appeared in one of the POL news info things. I'm reading about it on allakazham.com.

As in turns out, S-E did emergency on Waughroon Shrine, so maybe they're changing the droprate for the club.

0/57 is a bit extreme, if you ask me. haha.

And as for the suspended indefinitely... I'm sure that basically means that they're suspended, but S-E isn't opposed to the idea of talking to the players about maybe reinstating.

Nah... permanently and temporarily are opposites.

Indefinitely means that they have no definite time set for the suspension. To mean, this means something stronger than a 3-day ban, but less severe than a delete.

At least that's how I read it.

To me, it seems like they're using "indefinitely" to mean "as long as we please" which seems to contradict "temporary" because temporary would imply that it will end.

so that would mean they decide exactly what temporary means for each case instead of just handing out either 3 day suspensions or banning.

I see no contradiction

Why would they need the word temporary then? It sounds redundant.

Either way, it's definitely non-standard because it just doesn't sound right.

To mean it's just not a black/white ruling, like Deleted/Suspended for 3 days. There's no questioning what either of those mean and no wiggle room.

With indefinitely, I see it as meaning, maybe you did something bad and were suspended for three days already. But you did something stupid again, but instead of deleting it, we're gonna put it in "limbo" and let you make the next move.

Maybe if they call up and ride around in their whaambulance on the phone enough, they'll get it reinstated.

Well for the time being, you cannot get gil from IGE. So it looks like a good thing for now.
