edit: does winter 07 sound a little early to anyone? it seemed like the other expansions were in development for alot longer.

i heard from somewhere they had 2 differenet dev teams. 1 for ToAU and 1 for this new one, both working at the same time...but yea it does seem kinda quick

RoZ October 2003, CoP November? 2004, ToA April 2006. It's on the same course as normal. Of course CoP was basically finished in around a year(besides Bahamut/Apoc Nigh) while this still isn't finished a year+ later. I still wonder why these story missions are taking so long to add when they have almost no content besides travel and cutscenes, CoP had huge depth in the missions and a great storyline.

I'm interested in the story of this coming expansion, would be cool if we get to meet the living Hydra Corps or something and fight the Kindred alongside them, exploring the earliest experiences of Dynamis. I want to see war style fights with battle-standards flowing and horns blowing, infiltration missions to Castle Zvahl, fortress sieges, etc. I want to play the opening video with 400 other people fighting to defend the Marquisate against the Orc army and their legion of War Behemoths.

Seriously what do you guys think they are doing with the old areas as seen? They are before the Great War, which would lead me to believe that there is no conflict or conquest. That would make for open PvP in those zones, hence the bigger fortifications for each city. Bastok vs Windy vs Sandy. Thats just a guess. I wonder if they will have new HNM in the old zones or fucked up old HNM of past days in their place. This whole thing might be an instanced portal into the past, kinda like another dynamis. I really wouldn't be too happy with that.

It feels like ToA came out a couple months ago...but I haven't played in a couple months, so that doesn't work lol.

there are some unused ??? all around vanadiel, my thoughts are is that SE will use those such like dynamis

u give an item and it will take you back in time to like the prewar world, and fight that big war you see in the movie, get your drops, new "old" weapons, but they prolly will through so much stuff like 5 behemoths, that it cant be won and therefore wont change the outcome :X

Open PVP would kick ass lol. I would be happy if they made the new areas their own seperate zones. Like how you get to the CoP area's from a specific jump points, but they are all normal zones.

Would be nice if there was a "Time Crack" or something so the zones in the past are all activly running.

Also, is it officially supposed to be BEFORE the great war or during?

If it's during, PVP wouldn't make much sense since all the countries had aligned at that point to fight the beastmen, right?

But who knows, Sqaure is effing crazy and they already know that no matter what they put out, some korean kid will beat it in like 2 days anyway.

In my mind, it would be something like the way Al'Taiu works. After meeting certain requirements you can use some teleporter (enough with the crags already!) that will teleport you to "Old San d'Oria / Windurst / Bastok / whatever." They are theoretically the home nations of the past, but are really zones that are parallel to current zones. Would seem more like time travel if they gave players an item similar to Tavnazian Ring (with shorter re-use time of course) that was supposed to be the time travel device. Who knows though.. I would imagine that creating a MMO with believable time-travel would be tricky.

i dont expect this expansion to be big on areas, just big on story and concept. kinda like the exact opposite of ToAU.

i dunno that looked pretty decent.. not enough to make me come back.. the only way i would even consider coming back to FFXI is if we could get like the whole ifrit crew together (old ifrit crew) and server Xfer them into a server that was just for us... and maybe like 1-2 random other crews from other server for compitition lol... that'd be fun
