No. Melee onry for merits. BLM's either merit on another job or solo their exp.

These job changes look incredibly gay and uninspired. Really shows how lol most of the ffxi user-base is too. The fuck are people asking for RDM's to be more melee friendly? This isn't 2005.

[Windows Only]
The option “Run in Windowed Mode” has been added to the “General” tab of the FINAL FANTASY XI Config Tool. Checking this box and saving the new settings will run the game in windowed mode the next time you start FINAL FANTASY XI.

*When checking this box, the message “You may experience lower frame rates or other problems depending on your computer's specifications. Uncheck the box and use full screen mode to improve performance.” will be displayed. To switch to windowed mode, you will be required to select “Yes” from the subsequent options provided.
**Using the default settings while in windowed mode may cause problems with the game screen.
The following settings are suggested if any problems are encountered in windowed mode.
These settings are a general example, and the optimal values may differ depending on the graphic card, etc. being employed.

Warnings for Windowed Mode

After changing the settings, the size of the window will be displayed under “Overlay Graphics Resolution” on the “Screen Size” tab. While in windowed mode, it is possible to alter the window size by clicking and dragging on the edge of the window with the mouse. Press and hold the Shift key to maintain the same vertical and horizontal proportions. Right-click on the title bar and select “Default Size” to return the window to the default window size setting.

Even in the case where the maximum value for the “Overlay Graphics Resolution” is set to the same value as the full screen display, the window will be slightly smaller than the full screen.

It is not possible to take screenshots in windowed mode by pressing the Alt key and the Print Screen key.

The brightness, contrast, sharpness, etc. of windowed mode will differ slightly from full screen mode.

You may lose your connection and be returned to PlayOnline when performing the following actions while FINAL FANTASY XI is running:
Activating certain screen savers
Starting other applications

[Known Issues]
The terms “Burrow” and “Bore” are reversed in the display shown by the Chocobet NPCs when asked for race chocobo information.

Xbox 360 Only

After installing the expansion disc Wings of the Goddess, or the Final Fantasy XI: Vana'diel Collection, and attempting to download the version update, the error code "POL-12313" will be displayed. Retrying the download will allow the version update to proceed normally.

Dancer Job Traits

Evasion Bonus (Level 15)
Resist Slow (Level 20)
Subtle Blow (Level 25)
Accuracy Bonus (Level 30)

Job Ability: Dances

Dances are divided into three categories: Sambas, Waltzes, and Jigs. Each of the dances within these categories is acquired at a different level, and requires a certain amount of TP to use.

Each category has its own recast time, and using a dance will prevent the use of other dances within the same category until the recast time has expired. In addition, the effect of a Samba dance will be overwritten by other dances within the Samba category, regardless of the remaining duration.

Job Ability: Steps
Steps are used to enfeeble an enemy, while at the same time generating the “finishing moves” required to perform Flourishes.
Steps require TP to use, in the same manner as dances.
The enfeebling effects produced by Steps can be stacked up to five times. The more times an effect is stacked, the more powerful it becomes.

*Finishing moves are generated at a different rate depending on whether dancer is set as your main job or support job.
*Up to a maximum of five finishing moves can be stored at one time.

Job Ability: Flourishes
Flourishes are used to produce various powerful effects by consuming the finishing moves generated by Steps. Each type of Flourish requires a certain number of finishing moves to perform.

Flourishes are divided into two categories: Flourishes I and Flourishes II. Each of the Flourishes within these categories is acquired at a different level.
Each category has its own recast time, and using a Flourish will prevent the use of other Flourishes within the same category until the recast time has expired.

Flourishes I
Animated Flourish Provokes target. Requires at least one finishing move.
Desperate Flourish Weighs down a target with a low rate of success. Requires one finishing move.
Violent Flourish Stuns target with a low rate of success. Requires one finishing move.

Flourishes II
Reverse Flourish Converts remaining finishing moves into TP. Requires at least one finishing move.
Building Flourish Enhances potency of next weapon skill. Requires at least one finishing move.
Wild Flourish Readies target for a skillchain. Requires at least two finishing moves.

Building towards a Flourish
Build TP with weapon attacks until a Step can be used

Earn finishing moves by using Steps

Consume finishing moves to perform a Flourish

Modus Veritas (Level 65)
Increases damage done by helix spells while lowering spell duration by 50%.

Scholar Job Traits
Resist Silence (Level 10)
Clear Mind (Level 20)
Max MP Boost (Level 30)

Job Abilities: Light Arts and Dark Arts
When a scholar reaches level 10, he or she gains access to the job abilities Light Arts and Dark Arts.
Using Light Arts gives a scholar access to abilities that enhance white magic, while Dark Arts give access to abilities that enhance black magic. However, while Light Arts may shorten casting times or reduce MP costs for white magic, casting times and MP costs for black magic will be increased. The reverse holds true when using Dark Arts to enhance black magic.

Job Abilities: Stratagems
When a scholar gains access to Light Arts and Dark Arts at level 10, he or she will also acquire new abilities called “Stratagems.” The abilities available within Stratagems will correspond to the type of Arts the scholar currently has activated. No abilities will be displayed if neither Light Arts nor Dark Arts has been selected.

Stratagems do not have a recast time. However, the use of these abilities is restricted by the number of “charges” available, with each ability consuming one charge per use.

*When using the “/recast” text command, it is necessary to nominate a specific Stratagem to which the scholar currently has access, such as “/recast Celerity”. This command will display the amount of time remaining until a new charge will be generated, as well as the current number of charges available.

The number of charges available depends on the level of the scholar.
When set to the main job, a scholar will have one charge available at level 10, two at level 40, and the maximum of three at level 70. When set to the support job, a scholar will always have a maximum of one charge available, regardless of level.
Charges will be regained at four-minute intervals, meaning twelve minutes are required to regain three charges.

blm aren't popular? when i played, blm was way easier than whm or bard at getting a job. probably the easiest job in the game to get a party. when NA started reaching level 75, majority of them were black mages. also black mage were the biggest damage dealers in the whole game. is it not like that now?

BLMs are still the best damage to tp given ratio job in the game, however, it's just easier to zerg most things in game now, especially if you have the support. If you can kill mobs in less then 60 seconds by 'melee burning' it, who cares about what tp the mob spews when it's dead before it even knows it, wouldn't you agree?

BLMs started to drop in popularity when people finally started to realized chaining VTs was much more efficient. Then ToA came out and they got tossed to the curb like diseased lepers. An average merit party's paces about 15k/hr (when camps aren't over populated) and really good ones top over 20k/hr. Even in sub par parties, people still pace around 7k-8k per hour, which practically would of been unheard of back in our days hitting 75. Today, mobs die within 30 seconds, even less in those rare everybody is 'pimp' parties, and this was before the 2handed update. Mobs die even faster now. To put it in perspective for you, it's like KRT (where you would plateau around 10k/hr or so in most cases due to lack of mobs and mob respawn), but on three times more crack.

People see BLMs as a hindrance due to their heavy reliance on MP for damage, so at best now a days, they get invited to heal if there are no RDMs around. Skill chains and magic bursting in XP parties are a lost art, haha. Mage invite preference goes BRD|RDM > WHM > SMN|BLM. Most BLMs now solo/duo or go with BLM only parties.

I remember that, haha, still though even if they follow through with that, I don't see present day party mechanics chaning much. SE can try their best to make BLMs (or any red-headed step child job of the moment) appealing but in the end it's up to the community. Any programmer knows that they do not have any control over the end user, no matter what they do. People will always strive towards the path of less resistance. Similarly to BLMs, skill chains have been removed from present day party mechanics. As I already mentioned, skill chains are practically extinct. Unless the XP spots in WotG require SC to quickly and efficiently kill mobs or give some wacky bonus like 15% xp bonus for SCing/MBing, you won't be seeing people SC (or inviting BLMs to magic burst). Even then, if it's a requirement or padded some wacky desirable bonus, people will still jam pack themselves back into ToA as it's ridiculously to XP there. SE spoiled the game populace rotten with ridiculously easy XP spots and almost instant access to those spots, it'll be hard to top that unless they re-adjust ToA mobs but I've been going off on a huge tangent so I'll stop (can't help it, all those points all linked to one another, you can't discuss one point without including the other, they're not mutually exclusive :x).

Anyway, SE's warning their 'official window mode' may crash and such if used with other programs and the game having a reduction in performance while in that mode make me laugh. Guess I'll have to stick to full screen still for recording purposes.

Plds are the tanks of choice for end game for most HNMs, if not all. They have been for quite some time now (long before the super H@X, steroid infusing pld update, which just made them even more formidable tanks), especially among the top end game linkshells. It just took a while for the rest of the community to come around and accept it (like always).

Looks like a lot of people can't log in. Only 874 online world wide on Ifrit. I'm currently helping a friend get a coffer for AF.

Btw, SE window mode sucks ass. Unofficial windower still works, just remove recast plugin. I love the macro books and read you can link macros now. I'm going to be editing my macros all evening. Check out the campaign region info too when you get in.

Remember when they said before ToAU they wanted to bring blm's back to regular parties and quite the opposite occured.

blm aren't popular? when i played, blm was way easier than whm or bard at getting a job. probably the easiest job in the game to get a party. when NA started reaching level 75, majority of them were black mages. also black mage were the biggest damage dealers in the whole game. is it not like that now?

BLM parties can do up to 12k exp/hr w/o brd on puddings tho.

Yeah but 12k/hr is a mediocre melee burn party though and it still doesn't address the fact BLMs are still outcasts in today's merit party mentality. And we haven't even touched on invite rates for BLMs trying to level upto 75. Lots of soloing and duoing there, as opposed to the OMG BLM GRAB HIM SO WE HAVE 2 BLMS BURSTING ON DISTORTION SC WITH VIPER BITE THF /ORGASM when NAs started leveling up.

Yeah, there's also nin/drk and rdm/nin and whm/nin (on Tiamat a while back), but I wasn't going to go into a big tank discussion and the fact that not one tank is best for all situations. I was only pointing out that Pantherxx was misinformed about PLDs not being good at end game tanking. They generally are the preferred tank in most situations.

I heard there were CRAZY glitches since the last update, some of them were pretty funny like crawler mobs in mount z having 100% tp and some too weak mob in a bc doing 550000 points of damage. freaking se get ready for an all world maintenance soon!

Yeah it's like clockwork every time a big update is on the horizon - something always goes wrong. Can't say I'm surprised, can't really say any of us are surprised by can we? By now, we all know it's just the nature of things for SE to screw things up on updates. Amused and entertained all the same though.

Windower 3.3 crashes with the recast plugin, take that out and you should be fine.

As for SE saying window mode may slow down people's PC, bullcrapola - especially when they've been running fine with the unofficial windower mode.

I'm liking the new macro book and /macro set/book # commands to link macros. I never used the windower macros so this is a welcome surprised.

True, in that the game has always been broken in its core. That is why they are stuck on level 75 with merits and relics the way they are. They just broke it more, which is both awesome because of how inept it is.. and pathetic lol. I am so damn happy I don't pay for such a steaming pile of shit game rofl. Right now SE is shoveling you shit and you are eating it like it is chocolate.
