Yeah, I screen capped it as soon as that happened and made it in to a sig. I decided to wait awhile to put it up though since I figured it'd get you in trouble with your work. That was an interesting day in FFXI, haha

Nah I made it pretty well known I was a GM just never gave out a name. Only the people in Atariii knew I was Ioptex. I was rarely on Ifrit...for obvious reasons.

That was a while ago. I probably wasn't playing much then. I remember knowing Sev was a GM from a long ass time ago. I don't think either of us were 75 when I found out you really were a GM. There were rumors of course.

Yeah, I had no idea. I didn't actually know anything about that until after that /tell in game which was in one of the last few months before I quit. haha, that message really did freak me out now that I think about it.

Lol I had no idea, that's great.

How did you get banned then? Can't you use your 1337 GM powers to avoid that?

Maybe he got sick of FFXI and banned himself.

He wasn't a GM when it happened IIRC.

I'm sure he was. But I remember him telling us that GM werent exempt from the rules on their actual ffxi characters and many of them (GM's separate ffxi characters) were banned when the STFU (Special Task Force Unit) first came out because they had oftened pos'd and shit for fun. And only SGMs can ban/create items so preventing himself from being ban wasnt even an option.

How long ago did you GM for Squex? I've actually been testing there for a while and still have yet to make friends with any of the GMs.

I was a GM starting before I joined CKD until about 3 months before I was banned. So that would have been a little over two years. Valisk is extremely correct in saying that GMs were not exempt from the rules however I dont know if any of you know but I was not infact banned for botting whatsoever (thats a different conversation altogether). In fact the GM Staff at S-E knew I botted and actually appreciated the fact that I did because I knew the trouble signs before any other GM did. Unforutenly my employment ended (on my decision) because the operation was moved from San Diego (when the GM staff was employed by Sony Online Entertainment in a contract with Square-Enix) to El Segundo where it was brought into Square-Enix's North American HQ. I lasted about a month in El Segundo because of the drive (it was 1.5 hours each way and 10/hour was not cutting it lol). I will say though its probably the best job ive ever had and if I could go back I think I totally would.

I was one of those GMs who didnt care and always revealed myself if asked. The only time I was mean to ANY player is when an RMT called on an RMT which was hilarious...I would just send them to jail (the command btw is //gm jail <target> (only use <target> if your not targetting them) and just listen to them babble. Get the evidence I needed, sent it to a Senior GM who banned them....then //gm kick=GOODBYE friend.

That's my drive, and i've been working there since last June, almost a year and it's still alot of fun. I am quitting though soon because I still need to finish on my schooling and I can't do shit while working at Squex. I have a question though, why do I get a feeling like the GMs have a thing against the testers?

As you know per my experience with GM's, some of them, if not most, are assholes.

What kind of a GM jails someone for kiting motherglobe, (I was PLD at the time) under the accusation of holding said NM?

It took me over 5 hours on the phone with their lousy customer service to have the suspension reversed.

There are many cases of GM suspending accounts frivolously. My guess is they are bored and the customer base suffers.

NA GM's are also in most cases, non-fluent in japanese or chinese.

The GM just thought you were a noob for not going T2T with MG.

That's not as bad as when you got jailed for stealing my joke.

Yet another example of their frivolous nature, jailing someone for joking about claimbots. (But people who claimbot are ok cause SE cant detect it lol)

I got a warning and was released, after joking around with the GM as well lol. Total fuckfence retard too, GM Luminious or something like that.

It's apparantly as bad as saying the N word in aery, I remember speaking with Ahkow about him being jailed and released for /saying that in aery.

We got a good laugh about him getting a free trip to homepoint haha.

So, they hired a bunch of new GMs this week, they even brought back someone who tested with me on my first game. I've never wanted to punch someone in the throat so much...

Not even talisin could reach the epic levels of shittardation it takes to get banned from ffxi. I think a bucket full of doorknobs and bugpiss could manage to play ffxi without getting banned.

Really takes a rare breed of asswipe.
