I know not many people play here anymore, but I also know Yarr and others started out there FFXI end game careers in Dynamis, so I figured you might be interested in the changes.

Quote:
Adjustments:

Reservations will no longer be required to enter the above areas.
New key items will replace the "Timeless Hourglass" and "Perpetual Hourglass" items needed for entry.

The key items need only be obtained once.
It will be made available at an affordable price via the Goblin NPCs presently dealing in hourglasses.

Time restriction for entry will be changed to once per Earth day.
Trigger items will be introduced as a new spawn condition for certain notorious monsters (NMs).
Monster distribution will receive drastic revisions.
Monsters will yield experience points (excluding certain NMs).

Quite the overhaul to the system. Should be interesting. Sounds like they are making it more like Abyssea where anyone can come as go easily and get stuff done. Which is pretty ideal since only a few AF2 items are relevant anymore.

I wonder if currency prices will plummet or sky rocket. Relics aren't very good these days.

Yeah this sounds weird but should be cool for the people who play Dynamis, and make it easier for people to go farm the one or two items they might still need (I'm looking at you, Wyrm Armet).

So can people just enter the zone when they see a number of players in there, and just chill out and lot on drops?

I imagine they will get rid of the global loot pool since it was a fantastic failure in Walk of Echoes.

They mention mobs give exp, which certainly wouldn't be zone wide, so I assume loot will follow the same pattern.

Well aren't people doing Magian trials to upgrade their relics? Or are those too time consuming to be worth the effort?

Also, I guess versus the effort needed to just get a regular Magian weapon and upgrading that instead of getting a relic first.

Currently Empyrean weapons dominate relics nearly across the board. They even beat the upgraded relics.
This is because of the WS though. The relics are better statwise, but the Empyrean WSs are just insane. As much as double the damage in some cases.

Inside Abyssea that is, in the normal world I'm not sure how they match up since everything is Abyssea these days.

Man, FFXI is such a different game since I quit. I would have no idea what to do if I logged back on.

It was pretty overwhelming when I came back in Oct, Abyssea is so different. Lots to learn, especially how the lights work.
It's fun though, I've been enjoying it a lot. It's gotten more casual, you can hop on for an hour or two and actually get some stuff done.

I only have personal experience with a few of the Empyrean skills. Inside and outside abyssea, the hand to hand and katana weapon skills crush everything else in those same categories. I have the polearm. Inside abyssea it's still pretty pointless for me to use anything besides drakesbane with crit atmas, however I can make double light solo with sekkanoki>Drakes>Cam>Cam. Camlann with a single hit in abyssea generally gets in the 1800-2300 range, less on bosses. Outside abyssea Camlann generally ranges from 1400-1800. Not so hot, but it's more consistent than drakesbane and better than geirskogul, and again making double light is pretty fun. The VIT mod actually works out ok for drg, I have something like +70 vit along with light belt and gorget. Just sucks that there's really no decent way to boost the ws in abyssea.
