Hey all,

Well, after a weekend of hardcore leveling, I went from BRD35 to BRD44. Once I hit 50, or ASAP basically, I want to start collecting the Celestial Avatars. I want to level up SMN to high levels also, but I don't feel like doing the level 20 SMN fights, as I want to be of some use, other than just a Cure I bitch in the dunes.

I have maxed fame in all towns, except Norg (but I'll be working on that soon), so I already have all 5 tuning forks ready. I'm just curious if any high levels are bored and feel like escorting my lame butt through these fights. I know that the 6 basic fights are easily done now by most parties of 2 or 3 75 characters, and I'd be willing to compensate for some help, if needbe (though there is already 10k in it for you per fight, anyway :P)

Also, how hard is the Fenrir fight still? Has it gotten any easier with gear/strategies? Are all 6 slots still required, or is there wiggle room for one moocher? I suppose my reason for asking such must be quite obvious. I'd love to also get Fenrir at a low enough level to where I may actually be more useful in exp parties.

With the division of bloodpacts between buffs/damage, I'm looking for possible ways of actually being in a party without being the main healer, though I'll still obviously sub WHM.

lol

You know what's funny about that, though, since I know you don't play anymore? It may have started to become the norm back before you quit, but I dunno... People now say that you should get your avatars in the SMN20 fights, because you'll have more pride in your avatars. When I hear people say this, I have to kindly remind them that the only reason why the SMN20 fights exist is because of NA players whining that it was too hard to level up for the fights themselves.

And yes, I understand that I'm being lame on both accounts, but at least my lameness is somewhat warrented in the sense that I did the whole "wait until your 60+ for the fight" thing first on Ridere.

Yeah I know I can duo avatars pretty easily with almost any DD that subs NIN. Hell MNK/NIN and THF/NIN can solo alot of avatars. Fenrir though you might need an optimal setup of 5 people so you can leech.. or just 5 75 SMN lol. Diabolos will probably be harder to get than Fenrir.

I've never done the Diabolos fight, since it was added after I quit. I'd be willing to be a bit more patient on that one, though, and get it when I was 75, or higher level, if needbe. Main reason why I'm a bit antsy for Fenrir, though, is because from what I remember/have read, it melees a lot better than the other ones, so it's less shunned for a SMN to use if trying to do damage.

I am curious what the Diabolos fight is like, though.

Well they nerfed BLM manaburn in the Diabolos fight from what I read. That means jack to me because I did it with a normal party. It is kinda like the capped CoP mission but much more annoying. Same thing with the tiles and him using the evil BPs he has (yay sleepga+bio3). It is a cool fight, I did it the first night it was released so there was quite a crowd there haha.

I take it that it's a level 75 fight, though, right? The diabolos fight I did for CoP was capped at what, 40? haha

But that does sound neat. I've partied with a few people who have Diabolos since I've returned, and they haven't seemed to use it all that often, though. Probably just summoned it once for showing off. haha. So naturally I'd want to get it, but I think I could be a tad more patient on that one, too. :D

So why exactly don't you want to do the level 20 fights? They're easy and if you can do them yourself why don't you? It saves 5 other people some time for something that isn't really needed.

SMN isn't 20, I'd rather not only cast Cure I through the 10 levels of the dunes, and I've always wanted to toy around with the other avatars as a lowbie SMN.

Besides, I don't need a full party of five to do it, they already get a gil reward, and I'd be willing to pay for the help, also.

Next time read the posts, I'm repeating information that I already posted. :)

I haven't played in more then a few months, but last time I played, I had all the avatar except fen and diablos when i went through dunes. Smn abilities really weren't useful for parties until blinkga.

They probaly made a huge change though, but it only got fun as smn later on when I was able to do some more intresting stuff. Until Kazham, I was a backup healer with some random abilities every now and then. But as i said, it could be diffrent, last time I played was like last feb or jan.

I'd be willing to help you get Diabolos as i need the earring myself. I think you need to be past the diabolos mission of CoP to get there though.

Hey Jim I'm game for doing avatars. Im in the same situation of all avatars but fen and diablos. Either way you are going to need to do all primes to get your moon bauble for Fenrir. All the normal primes can be duoed with a rdm/nin.

Thanks for the responses. I'll maybe see if I can can grind out to 50 by this weekend and start bugging people in game about it. I'm working on Norg fame right now. Farmed 96 yag necklaces yesterday.

The game has been out for like four years, or whatever, and people still crowd in Giddeus to farm those. Not to mention there are still dumb BLMs out there that think AoE farming doesn't affect droprates. haha.

You know, that's what I was thinking. On four different accounts, I made an honest attempt to explain that AoE killing is counter-productive, but they didn't get it.

There were enough to kill where it wasn't too frustrating, so I was actually trying to be nice by explaining it... They just didn't understand, so you're probably right. Silly gil sellers.
