In preparation, I figured I'd give the Mame HLSL settings a play with. HLSL is the filter for making games look more like an old CRT monitor. It's not really just an on switch, you have to manually tweak a whole bunch of sliders to control the angles of the red/geen/blue lasers, the curvature of the screen, adjust the focus, and stuff like that. It's kinda neat.

Anyway, here's a quick recording of a vertical shooting game called DoDonPachi with some settings I tweaked. Might need to full-screen this one to see anything because of the fact it's a vertical game.

So it arrived today, I'm now a proud owner of an arcade cabinet in my room.

Left work early to get home and start setting it up, which took a while. Had to customize it so it'd play preview videos of the games in the menu and stuff like that. Been having lots of fun though. It's a lot more effort to button mash an arcade button than a keyboard button! I haven't gotten around to taking photos from a proper camera yet but here's one from a crappy phone camera:

The tokens that came with it for putting in the coin slot are nifty too:

I'll try and post some more stuff later, maybe a video, I'm actually pretty tired now though.

Pretty flippin awesome.
You were looking for suggestions on games months ago so while I'm sure you've already got most of these but without further ado some Arcade Beat 'em suggestions: I am assuming you've already got TMNT (both of them), Simpsons and Uncanny X-men arcade games covered.
I'd highly recommend Dungeons and Dragons: Shadows over Mystara.
And as somewhat guilty pleasures: Ninja Warriors (I like Ninjas ok), Pretty Soldier Sailor Moon (seriously its plays like the original TMNT arcade game with a bit more panty flashing and girly shouts), Aliens Vs Predator ( Final Fight with guns also iirc it has a 6 player mode too), and Golden Axe 3 (Best golden axe game... not the greatest endorsement but true and no console version available.).

Obviously stuff like Double Dragon, and Final Fight are fine too but they had a lot of console ports.

Yeah I think I have basically every well-known/popular MAME game now. I'm really looking for the "hidden gems" (e.g. I didn't even know there was a Sailor Moon arcade game, never mind know if it was any good) because when there are thousands of games there's bound to be a few unknowns in there somewhere.

I originally thought of just getting a "complete set" but it turns out the complete set is something like 70,000 games, 50,000 of them dont work, 20,000 of them are clones, and 8,000 of them are just crap. So yeah that idea went out the window and I started plucking them one by one. Took me a few weeks but it was worth it. I mean you don't really need 30 different versions of Street Fighter 2 or more than one version of Pac Man.

I could post a list later I guess of what I put on the list. I'm at work at the moment though.

I've ordered a LED controller board from germany that'll hopefully be here next week so I can get the lights on the unit animating and cycling around when appropriate. I'll do a video once I have it wired in.

One more, and just off my phone.

So I figured out where the hell 100GB+ space from the hard drive that was inside it went. It turns out if you hit some of the other buttons it changes platforms, and it just happens to pre-loaded with basically everything.

There's everything in here from the Atari 2600 and Laserdisc, to the Sega 32X, Mega CD, and Nintendo 64.

I even found this (along with the rest of it's series):

Runs pretty damn well for an old P4.

Is that sitting next to your bed? do you turn it off at night? seems like I would get little sleep with that thing running.

Why would I leave it on 24/7, I spend 16 hours a day either working or sleeping, of course I turn it off, lol.

How heavy is this unit?

Was the game preinstall?

I know those joystick are adjustable how strong or weak you want set to how it moves. Those button are made to be mash or bash with out breaking them, also its easy to replace the switch that are under them as well. Here a tip, keep those dust from setting on your control or button so they don't stick or hard to move.

Used to work in Chucky & Cheese at Closing time when kids would jam coin slot with pepperoni, papers; pennys, etc.... But it was worth getting paid 10 buck an hour on my 1st job. I make sure they all work and run safey and repair them as well. Fun job with no one to look over your shoulder. lol

So after some messing around waiting for a new harddrive to arrive (stupid harddrive inside the cabinet died after only a week of very little use) I finally have the cabinet set up with an LED control board.

I now have my "attract mode" set to flash the lights in time with the audio, looks great. Very very short video clip:

Yeah it's got the arcade version of Battle Toads on it.

It's different than the NES one people usually think of though: (Not my footage)
