well I got this game and they did added animation to it and I like it looks alot better than old FFT on PS one.

I just started the game and just didn't have time to get it going due to work getting real busy but it worth my 45 buck for this game that I can do moble.

The translation is a bit nicer and a bit more coherent. If you have the fat PSP there'll be considerable slowdown during battles that use skills, but I'm using the slim PSP and it's really not that noticeable for me. Most of the new content is from the wifi multiplayer battles. Which blows. However the game itself is great. If you've never played it, you probably won't care so much about the little things that are wrong with the game.

Easily my favorite FF game so my opinion might be a bit skewed.

The new animated cutscenes are extremely well done and probably the best I've ever seen in a while. I have only played through the first few story battles as i'm trying to get a good amout of jobs before I continue, but if you were a FFT fan and own a PSP, this game is worth buying.

The only big differences in this game are that Balthier is unlockable, and Dark Knight and Onion Knight are playable. Oh and the CG cutscenes are replaced with hand-drawn animation. Most of the translations were fixed/changed. Ex. Hokuten Knights are now Knights of the Night or something along those lines.

I like the look of the hand drawn animation over CG.

Oh and I'm playing it on a fat psp at the moment and the load times are not that bad but then again I'm usually patient with these games. Both PSP and DS need to pick up more srpgs.

I still have the old PSP and I do sometime get some slow down on game when I play it but mostly on battle area.

Just finished grinding my characters to level 19ish and i still have like 3 battles left in the first chapter... I kinda wanted Dark Knight asap but it doesn't look like i'll be getting it unless I want Ramza 25 levels over the story characters, lol.

Cheers to unlocking Ninja before to chapter 2 though.

Never had a chance to play this game, but I played Tactics Advance. If you guys have played both, would you suggest getting this in some shape or form if I like TA?

Tactics Advance sucked ass compared to the FFT. It's like comparing NBA Live to 2k.

Okay wrong forums...

Yes, Tactics Advance was rubbish. That was a game fashioned in the image of the original Tactics, but the story and certain aspects of gameplay were really stupid.

So, how's everyone coming along? I wish my router worked with XLink Kai so I could play over the net to get some of the new equipment, but I'm pretty happy overall. I've got my FFXI nostalgia tour covered within the game right now, with Yarr, Mikey and Kayne as their representative job classes, myself as a Dark Knight, Ramza as Ninja with monk abilities and mettle. I'm in the last chapter now, and just to a note to everyone who doesn't already know, always keep multiple saves files so you don't save and lock yourself into the final battle. I did that on my PS1 game when I was in high school. Haha.

And Dark Knight is like, completely the opposite of how it was (when I played) in FFXI. It's so overpowered and amazing.

Can you rename characters?

I'm still in chapter 3, stuck on the battles where you have to follow that guy after one of the stones in a basement.

You can rename monsters, but if you want to have a character named after someone, you've got to buy the unit and name it yourself.
