So for two weeks I have enjoyed the beauty of the Elite 360 and have gamed on it religiously. I was recently enjoying Viva Pinata since I found it @ Target for like $20 bucks but sadly as of tonite my system got the 3 RROD. Part of me wants to believe its the power cable since it's orange and not green but I kept trying different outlets and kept getting the same orange meter on the power box as well as the RROD on the 360.

Needless to say, Best Buy (got the 2 yr. service plan...but it's been less than even 30 days so they're screwed either way haha) is gonna have a 5'10" white rap artist on their hands come tomorrow morning but my main questions are will all my XBox Live achievements or game saves be lost (are they all saved server side?) or should I ask for the hard drive or something? Help me out here.

Also my damn Viva Pinata game is still locked up in the drive bay and there's no way to eject it, what type of rant should I raise @ Best Buy to get something out of this. Please someone answer my achievements question because I'd really like to prevent ever having to go back and re-doing all that shit. I doubt I'll ever get a few of them again any time soon.

god damn that sucks dude. it's really annoying that it's such a common problem, they should've fixed this shit after the first batch of 360s. as for the achievements, no idea but i'd assume they're server-side, and game saves etc. would be on hard drive

So I'm thinking I should ask them for my hard drive and replace it with a new system and go home with that and see if that solves my problem.

I'm gonna be pissed if there are no Elites in stock to replace this tomorrow or if I have to drive to another store. That little 30 dollar memory card may be a very appealing purchase after this debacle.

XBL achievments are on Xboxlive and not your HD. You can migrate your whole profile to another person's console. Also you can just use MS to do the warranty and they take 3 weeks and you keep your HD. Also you can remove the faceplate and use a paper clip to push into one of 3 holes to open the DVD drive bay. I have had to do this before since I have sent back 2 360s myself.

For RROD they tell you to keep your HD. You won't have to send them the HD, only the console itself. So yeah, you won't be losing your save files or achievements.

This is my third return. I've never EVER had trouble with consoles as much as the 360.

Yeah I agree it's bullshit and they need to do something about it. I really enjoy xbox live, the controller, the games, etc, but I absolutely hate that's it's as reliable as an american car.

*knocks wood* neither of my 360s rroded me, my issue with my last one was that the lazer lens thing got scratched and could no longer read the games.. but it never rroded, maybe cuz you guys have your system laying flat instead of standing up? lol imagine if it was something as trivial as that causing it

There is no support for the disk when the xbox is in the up-right vertical position. One bump, shake, push, or vibration could knock the disk off the holder and into the laser. You'll get a nice loud VRRRRMMM sound and have a perfectly circular ugly scratch burned into your disk. Leave the thing lying flat the way the microsofts intended.

you keep your harddrive when returning it. my roommates blew up playing halo and microsoft is replacing it at no charge. its because of the halo 3 issues tha microsoft extended the waranty on xbox 360 to like 5 years man
