From the one and only trailer on the US FF4 site, it seems the game will keep the Japanese voiceovers and go with English Subtitles.

Yeah Kain was a little iffy but I get the feeling he'll be better when he's not acting evil. I like Cecil's voice a lot. I hope Rydia is good, she was great in the jp version.

I am already playing Etrian Odessy 2 ( its hard so I put it aside until i finish up TWEWY and FFTA2) and FFTA2 but that trailer for FF4's remake actually has me a bti excited.

On the one hand the 3-d models don't really do it for me, but on the other hand the CG trailer is ownage. All in all I haven't played a version of FF4 since the SNES days so I'm looking forward to it. I imagine if i had just played the GBA or even PS verision I'd be less enthralled.

ff4 had the best character development of any ff game. cecil. kain. rosa. rydia. tellah. the twins. freakin golbez. cid as the dwarf. yang the monk. edge had the least development cause you get him towards the end. oh yea and edward the spoony bard.

Having to get ingredients to be able to buy shit from the store is kinda fucked up. They call it bazaar, but um, it should be called synthesis or something like that.

It's kinda fucked up, I get the fucking ingredients so they can make the item then I have to buy it?! WTF!?

You still have to learn abilities from items and my Nu Moui can't learn anything new right now cuz I can't get items they can learn stuff from to unlock other jobs.

Nevermind I just unlocked BST!

And I havent figured out how to recruit newbs into my clan. Maybe I have to set up a forum so they can post aps.

Despite annoying crap like that its still a fun and addicting game!

The graphics are kinda weak except for the animations. Most of the sprites are almost identical to Tactics Advanced. The spells and shit are pretty sweet tho. The background isn't as blocky looking and has ramps and shit. [/spoiler]

FFIV came out today. I picked it up, but I'm waiting for when I get a good amount of time to get started into it. I wonder if theres any GBA slot bonuses in it though.

I played for 5 hours last night after work. I just passed the Fabul part and I'm about to go to Mysidia. It's so awesome. I've been a FF2/FFIV fan (first RPG I played with a "good" story) since it came out on SNES. This is great for somebody like myself that's played through the game a million times. I really enjoy the new look, and the voice acting is actually good!

I like that you can change the battle commands and/or reorganize them. For example: Rydia's attack is super weak, but using the rod/ice rod/etc as an item is pretty strong. I like that you can swap out "attack" for "rod" so you don't have to scroll to the items menu and choose the rod every time (like you have to in the original FF4). Same for Rosa with "Aim" etc.

When you explore a dungeon you slowly unveil a map on the bottom screen. It shows what % of that floor you've explored and what chests you opened. The map % thing is cool because if you unlock 100% of a floor you get some pretty helpful items as a bonus. I'm sure they get better later in the game too! I can't wait to go home and play more.

GO BUY IT NOW! If you don't have a DS, go buy one. They are cheap as fuck.

I think the voice acting isn't that bad. I died on the first boss and forgot to save lol. The animations look really well done though. I want to try to finish Tactics A2 first, but I really want to get into this one. Cecil doesn't look gay as a pld in it.

Yeah I was just getting into the swing of FFTA2 (65+ quests so far) but now I have this to play. Kinda sucks since I don't have as much time to play now (job) but at least I'll have stuff to play on my train ride for a few months to come.

I just got Rydia back but haven't heard her adult voice yet. The VA is pretty good imo, they didn't go overboard on anybody except Tellah. So far I think the only voice letdown might be Rosa, her VA in the jp version was friggin great though.

I also really like how each member of the party has thoughts about the current situation when you go to the menu screen, sucked playing through the jp version not knowing what they said.

Just finished the dwarf castle episode.

but note, almost every one of her whips has paralysis added effect. I kept her equipped with whips for most of my playthrough on the jp vers. In fact all enfeebling magic seems boosted a bit in this version, it makes some dungeons a lot more manageable (see: zot, babil, moon) since you're actually able to sleep/para enemies on occasion or have rydia stop them with her whips.

I don't remember having a lot of trouble on the GBA version, but I also didn't finish it. Compared to the difficulty of the end boss of FF3, how is FF4 in general?
