A fine end to a long wait,

I'm not getting it at midnight, but I will have it tomorrow. This commercial aired during the NFC Championship game, because apparently it wasn't epic enough on its own.

I ended up replaying the first because my last save file had conditions I didn't want in place for ME2 (dead Wrex, dead Kaiden, dead Council, renegade streak, etc.) So I'm a couple days behind. I've only been able to play a little bit but I got through some Omega stuff. I signed up The Salarian Dr., who I find pretty funny (talktalktalktalkBREATHE....talktalktalktalk) and...The Archangel, which was an awesome reveal and a great fight to save him.

I'm disappointed that the planet rover truck is gone. The control may have sucked but finding new worlds and seeing the scenery was always cool. The new planet scanning is slow but seems productive.

Combat seems improved, enemies are a lot more deadly than in the original. I don't like that the HUD is hidden until it's needed (no life bar until you lose life, no objective map til you hit L3, etc) but the combat itself seems so much more visceral and war-ish that I'm usually too caught up to care. SO far it also seems that enemy species/race has a lot more to do with their abilities...I can't stand fighting Krogan. Still wish ammo was unlimited, but having such a small bit really forces you to play a bit harder and makes battle that much more dangerous. Can't shoot wildly, have to peek out, aim, and try to pop off a couple without dying or wasting shots on whiffs.

I have Monday and Tuesday off, hope to play a ton during that time. There is a lot I want to do in this game.

Playing once again with my original Vanguard character, focusing on pistol use until I get a decent shotgun or learn more about the "Charge" biotic.

I beat ME2 and did all the sidequests. I got my character to level 30 in the second playthrough. The bonuses for already beating the game are pretty cool. I am using Barrier on my Vanguard as the loyalty bonus ability. I seem to be use Incinerate ammo and shockwave the most.

I beat it playing Soldier, and I just started a new game as a renegade Infiltrator. This is probably the best game I've played in a while. I loved every second of it.

I beat it, unfortunately I did
The Reaper IFF mission
earlier than I should have, not realizing what would happen afterward. So I still had a lot left to do. As a result
all of my NPC crew died besides Dr Chakwas
which sucks. Besides that I was making it through the suicide mission pretty well. I had Garrus lead the fireteam all the way except the final battle, where I took him with me for the last boss. I had Samara protect
Chakwas
and sent Tali through the vent in the beginning. I used Jack for the biotic bubble. Choosing who to take with me for the final battle was tough, and in the end I chose poorly. I wanted Mordin with me but figured leaving him with the door team would improve their chances (he's an anti-organic enemy specialist.) and I wanted Garrus with me in case of tech enemies ahead. Grunt is always on my team. In the end this worked, but Mordin fell. He was my only player casualty.

Sad stuff. Great mission though. I'm happy with the way the game turned out, my internet's been screwed up and I haven't touched any of the DLC or cerberus network stuff too so once I have that the experience should be further improved.

I hit level 30 after talking with Illusive man right at the start of playthrough 2. I'm keeping Barrier as my loyalty ability. Charge+Barrier gets me up to like 900 barrier, great for Vanguard style play with the assault shotgun. I thought it was funny that I was able to hit almost every achievement in one playthrough.
