Figured we talked about it in a few other threads already, so might as well create its own.

Kitty and I downloaded this last night, and we were messing around. It's a lot of fun, though I worry it may be too short of a game. Who knows. I had some questions, however.

Can you replay levels?

And Kitty and I struggled creating a game that we could search for without searching as LAN only. Not sure if we were doing something wrong when creating the games.

Anyway, It seems like we'll probably get 10 bucks of value out of it. So far making lasers has been some of the most fun, especially when you "cross the streams".

After all the talk of Magicka on these forums, I read about it today. It looks like a fun game! I will download it tonight.

I believe once you beat the game you can do a Hard/New Game+ type deal. Not sure about a chapter select.

It's probably a little short too but I figured for $10 you can't go horribly wrong, I stopped playing a little ways in in favor of getting to play the game in MP one day. There's also a couple "challenge" modes which puts you in an arena where you try to hold off waves of monsters as long as you can.

As for multiplayer set up, I dont know, I've never gotten to try.

The story mode has 12 chapters I believe.

Joining multiplayer is easy actually. You can right click a name in the steam friend list and choose Join Game.

Oh, duh, I forgot about that. Yay for Steamworks integration! More games need to do it.

I gotta set up my Steam VC sometime I guess. I believe that in the latest patch they made it so on Windows Vista/7 you can finally use a different audio device for your voice chat than your game sounds. Took them long enough! (You have to goto windows sounds and set one of your audio devices to "Default Communications Device")

You guys want to try to set up a time to try this then? I'm sort of sad it's only 4 player now since so many people jumped on, lol. But I guess thanks to timezones we probably can't all play at once anyhow.

I downloaded the demo last night. It's a fun game, totally has an arcade feel to it. I want to try multiplayer. It seems to have constant overwhelming fights even in the first level (in the forest, after the tutorial). I can imagine this game becoming very difficult to solo in the later levels haha.

I'll download the full version tonight.

we kept dying but people where quick with the revives, i kept pressing the wrong order to revive people lol. i also dont like the scroll wheel is associated with the middle button on my mouse, makes things harder.

It's kinda hard to play with controller. To set spells you use the right analog stick. To set cure for example you have to push the analog stick up, then scroll it to the left, or to set arcana(?) you push up, then scroll it to the right. It's easy to select the wrong spell. It's hard to stack spells quickly to use special moves like haste, raise, etc. Maybe it will get better when I'm used to it.

I like stacking things with arcana and shooting the beams!

Is the sword just a gimmick? haha. It seems shooting beams is the way to go.

Reviving is so fast and simple, the real trick is noticing that somebody has died. It can get down-right hectic sometimes.

Though it's definately important to make sure you don't get wet. If you're wet, you can't cast the Revive spell (because it needs Lightning), and this becomes a big problem if it's raining. You can cast the Nullify spell (Arcane + Shield, i think) to stop rain, or you can make sure you have the self-shield (Shield + Middle Mouse Button) active at all times, because while you have the shield on you can't get wet, even in the rain.

Also, playing solo is an entirely different kettle of fish. You don't have to worry about friends accidentally killing you in the crossfire, however if you do die you have to start the entire level over (because nobody can revive you). Not to mention when solo you are the sole target for all monsters on screen at the same time, it can get rough and you're forced to do things like aoe freeze or aoe earth to stun/slow/etc monsters long enough for you get get a safe distance away constantly.

Swords are sort of useful to "pre-cast" a kind of spell and save it for later by enchanting it. You can queue up a whole bunch of ice elements, for example, and then cast it on your sword to enchant it. You now have a short range ice spell you can trigger very quickly with Shift even if you are in the middle of conjuring another kind of spell. This only works once though and the enchantment is lost. They're definately not intended for dealing damage though.

Yah, I haven't found much that can compete with the beams, but I do totally enjoy quickly spamming ice and shooting icicles. It's hard to quickly get some range with your spells without using arcane.

Strongest spell I've personally seen (except for Meteor Shower and Thunderbolt, but those are somewhat dangerous to cast) is Ice Ice Ice Arcane Lightning, or Q R Q R Q R S A, fully charged and fired at point-blank range on a target that's currently wet.

Also, crossing water seems way safer when you AoE 5 frosts, since it freezes up a huge chunk, and it takes a bit longer for it to thaw.

You have to go through a different vendor to get the white one. I think it was a different vendor, all I know is you order them from a Grand Wizard.

lol.
