I beat a master last night! Here's the game. I was black, against the 4th highest rated active player in Georgia (rating = 2240)
http://www.chessvideos.tv/chess-game-replayer.php?id=45423

He started to get a good attack against me. He was trying to pin my knight to my rook, plus he had a hint of a bishop attack across the long diagonal to my other rook.

However I let him go for the attack and in the meantime I lined up several pieces on his king (moves 9-14). I let him have my rook. By the time he realized what I was doing, he had no chance.

It should be the sort of game I'm good at, but I actually kinda suck at Chess. Congratulations.

Btw, is it pretty common for top players to suicide their Queens away like that?

EDIT: You know, thinking about it, maybe that's why I always sucked. I would always avoid losing pieces at all costs unless there was no other way (check) or I simply didn't notice something, even if it meant backtracking pieces and stuff. Admittedly, I've not exactly played it since I was a kid except for the one built into Windows Vista/7 a couple times. Too defensive, no aggression.

It wasn't suicide of the queen, we traded queen for queen.

Whether or not they decide to swap queens really depends on the board. I think he decided after queen swapping then he can pin my knight to my rook. I didnt really care about queen swap either way, but I did like the idea of my Bishop attacking his pawn on f2. Plus I wanted to avoid the pawn fork he was threatening.

If I did 9. Knight takes pawn...he was surely going to do Queen d5 and win a piece.

I was invited to represent Georgia at the 39th World Open of chess in Philadelphia. If I win I get $18,000. Second place is $9000, 3rd is $5000 and so on. I'm going. It's June 30-July 4.
