Remember, only buy stuff on Daily Deal except on the very last day of the sale.

Image

PS: If you were F5ing the very beginning of this sale, you'll have seen Dead Island 4-pack up for $5, lol. It was supposed to be the new DLC price but it got put on the main game's 4 pack instead. Unfortunately it got fixed 5-6 minutes later.

EDIT: Theres also the usual achievement giveaway thing going on. Play games for achievements and win even more stuff. The Steam site is completely dying under the load at the moment though so it's hard to get details.

I can post the actual games but there's no point me posting the prices because they're all in £££s.

Fable 75% OFF
Orcs Must Die! 75% OFF
Max Payne 75% OFF
Portal 2 50% OFF
Pendulo Adventure Pack 75% OFF
Singularity 75% OFF
RIFT 75% OFF
Amnesia: The Dark Descent 75% OFF
Just Cause 2 75% OFF
Sam & Max Series 75% OFF
Bunch of Heroes 75% OFF
Metro 2033 75% OFF

This is on top of all the usual massive publisher deal packs and stuff.

Cool, thanks. I'll have to take a look. Seems like I was missing out by not trying Fable yet, but I dunno.

I've been hoarding the holiday achievements from the various games I already own that have them. I have the spare time right now and it potentially wins you free stuff, so why not. Getting the achievements in advance simply automatically wins you the gift the moment Valve put the game up on the competition, which is when the store resets at 10AM PST 1PM EST 6PM GMT.

If you're wondering why people already know which achievements to get, it's because they're all winter themed achievements that were recently patched into games all of a sudden.

So far I've gotten the achievements from:

Orcs Must Die
Defense Grid
Worms Reloaded
Trine
BIT.TRIP RUNNER (2/3)
Beat Hazard (1/5)
Flight Control HD
Left 4 Dead 2
Magicka
Team Fortress 2
Renegade Ops

That's a decent amount of coal.

Still gotta do:

Super Meat Boy (argh)
Warhammer 40,000 Space Marine (need a second person :| )
Warhammer 40,000 Dawn of War 2 Retribution (also need a second person :| )
Dungeon Defenders (not sure if this achievement is active yet?)

recctear, i recommend it it's cute and fun.

You play an npc vendor in an rpg world. You have to to make x amount of money and keep up with orders to pay off an ever increasing debt. In between, you must level up various rpg style adventurers and fight through dungeons to earn new loots to sell or equip. The gameplay feels simple but there's a lot of complex things you can do if you should choose to do so. The initial story mode goes by fast but after you beat it it unlocks a lot of new play styles.

Payday: The Heist.

It's like Left 4 Dead if you were Bank Robbers vs Police/SWAT/etc. Odd description but best way I could put it.

And it's 50% off Batman Arkham City (the new one), yeah.

Oh sorry, I thought the update sucked (I either already have it or aren't interested in it) so I didn't care enough to post about it, lol.

Torchlight is great, however Torchlight 2 should be just around the corner and has multiplayer (Torchlight 1 doesn't) so might be worth holding off.

I honestly don't understand the point of the Coupons.

You're not allowed to use them during the sale, and they expire after March, which is likely Easter and when their next sale is. And I'm yet to see a single coupon that has a BETTER deal than the current sale deals.

But if you're getting coupons, you're doing the achievements, which means you're actively involved in the sale every day, and know all the deals, and could buy any of these games if you wanted them for better prices than the coupons (which you cant use yet) even offer. You're not going to "miss your chance" and end up using a coupon in January instead.

Do they expect everyone to trade away their coupons next month to people who missed the sale? How are we even expected to find these people?

I understand they can't give out free games to everyone every single day. But crafting 7 coal (which could have been 7 coupons) into a single crappy coupon shouldn't be possible.
