So me and my wife have been really enjoying this game. We both just hit 59 tonight in Ranked mode and we only have two levels left to finish on Hard mode. The last level is a pain in the ass since the ogres have like 200k hp and there are like 8 of em.

After we finish doing everything on hardmode we want to do some more challenges, but it seems the more people you have the easier it would be (or do they scale up with more people?). So if anyone is interested I wouldnt mind setting up a night for a bunch of us to do a challenge for shits and kicks.

You need to have RANKED characters (Not local characters) and probably in there 45-60+ range too.

Id like to start the next DLC stuff too at some point. I tried it solo on local with a level 40 mage and got my ass kicked. I havent tried it since.

If I'm around and we're not doing something in FFXIV I'm down for some DD.

My Mage is 71
My Squire is 32
My Monk is 27
My Huntress is 25

I would play as my mage, but during building rounds I could switch to get some of the more useful defenses from the other classes. I've been doing hard/insane maps that way, and it works out pretty nice.

I'll join up to do stuff. Once I hit level 70 (Squire) I found that everything else was either too hard (new stuff) or too easy (old stuff) to play solo any more. Don't mind helping with some of the older stuff too, the amount of exp you need to level ramps up a ton at level 70.

I was reading about how all the best gear now comes from Nightmare mode (so called "Mythical" loot) but Nightmare is some Grade-A impossible BS solo. The very first wave of the very first level in nightmare mode has a 700,000 HP Ogre! I have 17,000+ DPS sword, but I still couldn't manage that first wave.

To my knowledge, playing with more players adds more monsters per wave but does not increase their level or HP.

I've been farting around on this a bit. I think I'm a 28 squire in ranked, or whatever. It's kinda fun, but I don't see myself hitting it super hard.

I got my monk from 1 to 28 so far today. The game is so fun in multiplayer, but you gotta be quick grabbing all the loot with randoms around.

Yeah I dunno if I'd wanna play with randoms, lol.

Anything you don't pick up is automatically sold to bank for mana and then automatically distributed fairly to all players. It's handy as hell but falls to pieces if people are rushing to pick everything up.

Pro-Tip: When you open the map by holding shift, any green dots on the map represent loot on the ground that is better than what you already have. They can be hard to spot at first but once you realise what you're looking for they're obvious and it makes finding loot much easier.

Ket theres also a visual marker (two little green triangles) that you can see in the UI. So you dont need to open your map.

But you'd have to actually run around the whole level looking for them then!

I play top-down. Don't like the behind character view.

I use the triangles more often. Sometimes I look at the map and can barely see the green dots because they're covered by so much black.

I'd be down to play with you guys for the harder levels. My countess is level 70 or 71, and I'll get the DLC preorder if that's what we're doing.

I haven't quite figured out how I prefer viewing things as an apprentice. Hard to target with your wand sometimes. I'll see my missile thingies hitting the ground instead.

The problem is that the "Mythical" gear has has a ton of, which is important because Mythical gear can have 100-200 upgrade levels on it, only comes from said Nightmare mode.

Show me someone who can solo Nightmare mode without any gear from nightmare mode and I'll be impressed (and steal their strategies).

you have to play nightmare mode to get the Mythical items? Thats fucking lame. You gotta have the DLC 4 pack to get that dont you?

Well if Corwin's right you can get some from getting to something like wave 10+ on insane Glitterheim Cavern.

I hope he's right, because getting any of it from Nightmare mode itself (solo at least) is basically nigh on impossible. I've seen it done in youtube videos but only if you have like level 70+ of Squire, Monk (Tower Builds) AND Huntress (DPS build) that you can swap around very very quickly.

Alternatively, you'd probably need to just group up with people. I think only the host needs DLC too but I'm not sure.

There's a ton of people here who play this game now, lol. Need to try one of those 8 player+ maps irl.

I finished grinding to 74 now and having a full set of mythical gear suddenly feels kind of game breaking, lol. With blood rage up I do 250,000+ DPS. I can drop a 1 million HP ogre in 4 seconds by myself, lol.

Didn't make Mistymire (the DLC campaign map) any easier though. Damn spiders.

Btw, I found grinding to 74 using Endless Spires Nightmare Hardcore to actually be reasonably fast, with the added bonus of picking up a ton of mythical gear in the process. As long as you don't mind the mundane and repetative side of it.

You get 90 seconds setup time (though you can do it in 70 seconds with a decent speed stat), the combat wave takes exactly 60 seconds, and then another 60 seconds to pick up loot from the chests, then you restart. Lets say it takes 3.5 minutes per "run". If you do it without getting hit (for the bonus exp) you get 80,000xp for this.

60 Minutes / 3.5 Minutes = ~15 runs per hour
3.5 Minutes for 80,000 xp = ~1.2 million exp / hour

Maybe not the fastest way to make exp (someone needs to measure how much you actually get from insane ramparts/glitterheim) but considering the number of mythical items you'll get in the process it's probably worth doing a bit of it. I ended up with like 80 million mana at the end, spent 50 million of it upgrading my mythical weapon to 8000 base damage (and its only half upgraded).

So ket, you've a player build, instead of a tower build, I'm assuming?

I'm going tower build with my little apprentice, but he's only level 40 now. Have to find a new map to grind, since I'm bored of deeper well on insane. haha
