It's that time again, and there's gonna be a ton of deals available up until July 22nd. If you're planning on buying any games soon i'd advise holding off until you see it on the steam sale, there's a good chance that whatever game you may end up buying will appear on there at some point.

http://store.steampowered.com/?summersale2012

There is a useful post on Reddit covering the sale in alot more detail, you can find that here. That post should be kept updated daily, but i'll try and keep this thread updated with any changes just incase.

Day 1

This sale is gonna be crazy.

Random new deals every 8 hours or so, and the ability to vote on flash sales means you need to be checking the damn site almost all day if you want to make sure you don't miss anything.

For example, if you were asleep or at work for the past 8-10 hours or so, you've just missed out on Trine 2 at -75% off. (As of this post there's an hour left but it'll be gone by the time most people see this.)

Though I'm sad there's no achievement hunting for prizes this year, like at last year's summer camp and the christmas sale. It got you to actually play some of the damn games you bought (for a chance at winning more) instead of just buying them and throwing them on top of the backlog pile.

Saints Row the Third was 75% or something crazy, I almost bought it since it was $13~, but I'd only be interested in the co-op and have noone to play with. I regret it already though.

I'd gladly take a copy if they're just sitting around, I was thinking about picking it up while its on the deal anyway.

Im super happy with the sale so far. During the christmas sale I told my wife the only thing i wanted was SFIV AE, but it didnt drop below 20 bucks. This time day one it was down to 10 bucks. So I grabbed it. This game is sooooo much better on PC running at 1080 and locked at 60 fps.

Now I just need the usless costume dlc to come downt o 75% off too.

Im not sure what else I want to get.

I haven't really looked into it, try checking out some of the reviews. I usually determine if a game is my type after watching 3-4 different reviews.

Left 4 Dead 2 won the community challenge at -75% off, next up is:

L.A. Noire (-75%)
Alan Wake (-75%)
Amnesia (-75%)

ends at 3am EST

Ok so I did some digging around for this game and I've seen enough to convince me to buy it. Like any other RPG it has its faults, mostly with the AI but other than that the character progression, questing, giant open world and 2 - 8 multiplayer make it look worthwhile.

Considering its £5 i'm not gonna pass it up, I probably wouldn't buy it at full price, but we'll see how it turns out. It might actually be a steal.

I haven't really bought much from this sale yet.

Thing is, once you've been participating in Steam sales for 2 years like some of us, you already HAVE most of the good discounted games. Or at the very least all the ones from the genres and series you're interested in.

Also, I think they're missing an opportunity by not giving any of the indie bundles themes. They seem so randomly put together. I look at a bundle and like maybe one game out of the lot so I don't bother. They used to group indie games by genre or theme, so you'd be interested in 3-4 of the games in the bundle which was enough to make you buy the lot.

First world problems.

Click the "_____'s Account" link in the very top-right corner of the Steam window. Then click the Store Transactions tab. It'll show you everything you bought, when you bought it, and how much you paid.
