I really like the idea of a sprite based FF game wherein all the characters from previous games are in it, although I'm confused on their execution of it. Why are there so many characters on the screen? Many mutliple?
Another thing I've been told is that extra characters are, not surprisingly, microtransaction based. However, which character you actually get is random. I guess it's supposed to be fun like buying blind bags..and blind bags /are/ fun..but for some reason it doesn't feel like something I'd want to do for a mobile phone game.

Either way the game still looks fun. Strange, but fun. I kinda hope that SE continues to make more niche spin offs for FF, not taking the IP too seriously. Like Crystal Defenders and Theatrhythem. I'd like to see maybe something like Recctear would be fun too, or a pokemon/pet raising game (ff13-2 doesn't count).

i assume they highlight the A,T,B in all the bravest as a reference to "active time battle"

it should be retitled... Final Fantasy: Zerg
i really don't like unmanageable battles with numbers flying everywhere. i prefer small but complicated struggles. that may be why i love baseball and hate football.

Yeah I didn't get around to updating this thread.

General concensus is that it's a horrible cash grab, and unless you want to pay $50+ for everything, with gameplay that involves just swiping the screen madly, and need to pay extra money to revive your party when they die... don't bother.

Luckily I don't even have an iOS device so I didn't get to be one of the people to find all this nonsense out the hard way.

Ah square's iOS games. trying to microtransact their way into costing consumers as much as a full release.
I enjoy checkpoint and enjoyed their report on ATB http://penny-arcade.com/patv/episode/swtor-sgr-omg

RPGs on the iPhone used to be good. and fun. Until the "in-app purchases" concept caught on. Now all (well, 99 out of 100) iPhone RPGs use in-app purchases, and without them you cannot enjoy the game fully.

IF AN IPHONE GAME UTILIZES IN-APP PURCHASES, DONT EVEN CONSIDER PLAYING IT, ITS ALMOST DEFINITELY SHIT.

When you use Setzer, it lets you throw gil at monsters, but you get to enter how much you want to throw, and it comes straight out of your irl bank account.
