Yeah its out in like 10 days.

I've been hanging out on ffxi for a few months again, and there's been a surprising about of fun to be had. The expansion seems interesting at least with some fixes that are about 10 years late.

-Enmity system overhaul
-Defense/attack ratios being fixed so people with lower defense get hit significantly harder now.

Theyre also adding 2 new jobs. Rune Fencer and Geomancer. Rune Fencer is suppose to be a tank made to take elemental damage. Geomancer sounds like a buff/debuff class mostly.

Either way should be interesting. Between the new expansion and all of the old content being overhauled to match lvl 99 standards its been pretty fun and a completely new experience to come back since abyssea.

I kind wish they'd do a HD overhaul of the game, bring it up to modern graphic standards. I think XI still has a lot going for it. They also need to link it with their newer account system so people don't have to go through walls like having a specific credit card account to play.

There was a strong rumor maybe 2 years ago that they were going to create a PSPVita and mobile gaming version. I wonder if that is still even in the works.

If I could already be level 75 I would consider checking it out. It would be nice to run through all the old areas again. I would have a difficult time starting from scratch though. I wish I still had my old character.

Same, but I'd rather be 99.

What about aquiring gil for gear? And would I have to find exp parties for all those levels?

I'n not going to do it (too busy irl to play anything atm) i'm just curious

you dont have to search for parties anymore. just show up at those places with your lfg flag up and you hop right in to the alliances.

as for gil, i'd help you out.

I'm not playing right now, Kluya, but when I was. I'm pretty sure I got up to level 75 WHM in level 30 Seer's gear.

You're playing in Level Synced alliances. 18 people killing a crawler doesn't really require optimal gear. Certainly don't need to break the bank on the highest end stuff anymore.

Again, this was a year, or two, ago. It was very easy. Skilling up and buying backlogged spells, however, are another issue.

Oh yeah I forgot about skilling up! Well it sounds like they are doing a lot of nice things for the people who still play FFXI. Keeping it entertaining.

I tried reactivating in February but I couldn't remember the default email address I had with my cable company NINE YEARS AGO so se wouldn't unlock my account.

They added quite a few ways to speed up skilling up. There are multiple items that you can get that increase skill up rates, and there is now skill up food for combat skills and magic skills as well.

Spells are expensive, but farming gil is significantly easier too. bsts or thf/dnc's make like 800k-1mil a day running dynamis solo (dynamis was revamped and is now primarily low manned.) I usually run dynamis as THF/DNC MNK/DNC and WHM/RDM (2 boxed whm) and we usually average 300-400 coins per run which breaks down to around 2 mil a day for us. Pretty easy to run these and pay for your spell needs inside a week.

The dynamis information is interesting, Fatty. I probably won't resub FFXI, just because, though. I'm not even certain I'm on your server, to be honest. It's been awhile.
