Type-0. Otherwise known as "the good Final Fantasy XIII" -- Agito.

Square Enix never bothered translating this, so after 3 or so years some fans have gone and done it instead. Looks like they've done a pretty good job, and are going to be releasing it in August.

This will be playable by basically everybody because there's a fully working PSP emulator out there (PPSSPP)

Quick background: Type-0 has a setting similar to Final Fantasy VIII. You are actually students at a Final Fantasy-style military school, and part of one of four warring factions. Gameplay is real-time and similar to FFVII: Crisis Core, except with a switchable party and optional multiplayer (Monster Hunter style, was all the rage in Japan a few years back), and each of the fourteen students of "Class Zero" uses a particular type of weapon and fighting style, so there's one for everybody. Skip to 3:04 in the above trailer to see how it plays.

It's a crying shame that SE never bothered localising this game, but it was because the PSP was practically dead in the water everywhere outside of Japan. Definitely looking forward to playing this around Summer.

EDIT: Bam:

EDIT2: I recorded this on Twitch but I can't seem to play back the archive, which sucks.

I want to play FF Type-0 too! How!?

You need:

An ISO copy of either one of the UMDs (FF Type-0 originally came on two UMDs)
The Translation Patch
Chrome or Firefox
PPSSPP (PSP Emulator)
WinRAR (or something else capable of opening RAR files, e.g. 7Zip)
A gamepad (It's a nightmare to play with the keyboard!)

-------------

You can get the ISO file from here. Note that this site sometimes has a pop-up/under or two, but the site itself is otherwise very good, very fast, and always works.

Note that this ISO is a multi-part RAR file. You need to extract every single file to a folder, and then open one of the RAR files and then extract it again to another folder. You should end up with an ISO file.

You only need *one* UMD ISO file. The translation patch will provide the files normally present on the other UMD disk. This process will merge the game into one UMD which means you don't need to disk-swap while you play anymore.

Code:
http://www.emuparadise.me/Sony_Playstation_Portable_ISOs/Final_Fantasy_Reishiki_(UMD_Disc_1)_(Japan)/158746-download

You then need the patch. Right now this patch is hosted on MEGA. You need to be using either Firefox (with an addon) or Chrome to be able to download files greater than 1GB off of MEGA.

Code:
https://mega.co.nz/#!pwp3ARQR!8WCIyHbNd1nF1EdfXwtsP4SSpPN9JkeB5Az519-zpCs

This package contains a patch and a patcher .exe file. Extract them both to a folder, run the patcher, click Patch and select your FF Type-0 ISO file. It will then ask you for a filename for the new patched ISO, give it a new different filename, and ideally a different folder.

Get the latest version of PPSSPP. This is not the one on their website, you need to go here to get the absolute latest:

Code:
http://buildbot.orphis.net/ppsspp/

Extract PPSSPP to it's own folder somewhere, and drop your new patched ISO into the folder too. Then run PPSSPP, and the game should run once you select the folder it's in.

Note: To start a "New Game", you have to go to "Options".

Or, you could wait for the PS4/XB1 version. From a trailer for SE's new mobile phone game:
