Decided to pick up the game. went to the gamestop at the mall and it was full of people. I did get a copy thou so I guess it wasn't sold out.

so... is anybody planning on getting this?

My roommate and I played some 50c coop grand Prix races today. Its definitely Mario Kart with all that entails.

I was thinking of picking it up this summer. The WiiU has a bundle with mario kart I also plan on getting super smash bros of course.

if you buy it this month, they give you a free game, you get to pick from NSMBU, wind waker or Pikmin 3.

I needed another reason to pull the trigger and buy a Wii U. This might be it!!!

I need to find that deal where you get another free game with it, like Kitty mentioned.

I might ask my wife to get it for my bday in a couple weeks. I'M GONNA BE AS OLD AS YARR.

Like I said... its Mario Kart. I admit to being partial to the more dynamic feeling levels of transformed, but tbh I didn't really like the flying parts or the boost mechanics of that one. All in all both good examples of the genre and you're not wrong to not like the genre or prefer one to the other.

As for myself i got some fun out of the online grand prix and such in 8, although I kinda feel like 2-5th place of so mostly get shitty items, when a good item could swing the race. where as the players ijn 10-12 get mostly "fuck you items" like Blue shells and lightning bolts which don't really help them win races only fuck over the guy in first.

Also lightning bolts are too strong imo. 3 coins, lose all items, possibly fall off etc. no defense/forewarning.

I thought it would be more fun than it it is. Probably nostalgia. It could be way more fun if they removed the cheap AI and distributed items more evenly. Sonic rewards you for doing well, Mario Kart punishes you.

I was a bit put off by the flying and boost mechanics in Sonic at first, but now I really love them. I feel they added a great dimension to the game. So far, Sonic and all stars racing transformed is leaps and bounds better than MK8 in every single way for me.

SART (Sonic All-stars Racing Transformed) has the best item balance I've seen in practically any kart racer.

Sure, the game has it's own share of annoying attacks, but what makes it feel fair is that every single type of attack can be blocked or avoided somehow. Some of them are difficult to avoid, but there's nothing you can't avoid or stop. Even the homing bombs can be avoided with a well timed drift boost, even on a straight road. So when you do get hit, sure the guy that fired the weapon is an asshole, but you feel like you're partially to blame for not reacting fast enough; next time you'll dodge that shit and rub it in your friend's face.

Importantly, the game itself doesn't feel like it's at fault when you get hit with shit. Makes a big difference when gauging the fun you're having playing it.

Hit by Bomb in SART: Shit, coulda powerslided around that.
Hit by Blue Shell in MK: MOTHER. FUCKER.

A bunch of us have it on steam, but that's not the best for portability. I heard that they scaled down to 30 fps in the non pc versions too, but I'm too lazy to look that up. The game is beautiful on PC.

I think you (or somebody else) gifted it to me on Steam a while back when it was on sale. I just never got around to playing it. My current situation irl limits me to portable gaming mostly. My PC gets no love.
