Personally I think it's really great. I haven't listened to all of the small themes, i.e. summon themes, but the music in this game will be, albeit not as catchy and thematic, much grander and movie-esque then when Uematsu's music. I'd say that the theme is a new series best in almost every way. Better than alot of the music I've heard in Hollywood in recent years, as well. What do you guys think?

They definately spent some cash on a fancy, and very able orchestra. I would upload the main theme but it's 6 minutes long, so I'll just upload a familiar, short theme to show the improvement in orchestration...

This sounds really nice but for me it'd be hard for any game's soundtrack to completely trump FF8 or 10, so I'll have to see. I think some main themes in the PS2 Ace Combat games are pretty amazing, not to mention the incredible score for Shadow of the Colossus but overall FF8 and 10 take the cake in terms of memorable orchestral, themed-score style music(for me). The Silent Hill games, Zelda Windwaker, Metal Gear Solid series, and the Metroid Primes are also well put together soundtracks.

DL, you should check out the Shin Megami Tensei soundtracks. They're pretty badass.

Well, the main theme (the one played during the opening video) is the best FF song I've ever heard, easily. Nobuo was good but he couldn't handle a real orchestra and not make it sound a little MIDI-like. Almost all of the other music doesn't sound anything like past FF music. The chocobo theme, which is usually electronic, is played on clarinet

funny you should mentioned the Ace combat 2 soundtrack, dead. Some of those tracks was kickass. (especially from that one mission called "Dogfight" or something. Forgot the name)

Oh yeah Harry-Gregson WIlliams is the king of action music. Konami was lucky to get him to make the soundtrack to MGS2 & 3. The Halojump - opening scene is just terrific. I really hope that when the upcoming Metal Gear Solid movie (scheduled to be released in 2008) Harry-Gregson Williams will be making score too.

I always liked most of Uematsu's scores, but I agree with Ponuh I dont like the MIDI sound they had in the games. The orchestral versions of FF7 main themes from Reunion trax is pretty cool aswell.

Also, anyone heard the Final fantasy Unlimited soundstracks or Onimusha 2 Orchestral soundtrack? those are really great.

I currently got a mix of every FF orchestral themes in existance incorperated into my current FFXI soundtrack, its pretty kickass since I still play FFXI alot.

Yeah cant wait to play this game in a few weeks, it has a similar battle system as FFXI which I like and you dont have those annoying random fights like the earlier ones. The US version will feature a 16:9 support aswell so it will look better on my HDTV than the demo did, awesome. 8)
