Probably one of the saddest news i seen/received this week... This isn't my main ISO bootleg site, but its my favorite back-up. Apparently they also have a lawsuite going on Vs. MPAA, which will surely close them down for good eventually. This is the 2nd site being hammered this month and if things keep going at this rate, soon we will need a new method of saving and sharing our "back-ups".

I rarely use public trackers as i said in the very first post, too bad you can't fucking read ponuh. Anyways Isohunt like Torrentbox were/are the fathers of iso trackers, as they started the community long time ago when Kazaa first got shut down. Having such a big community shut down without any warnings and completely ripped from its isp is a pretty big deal, its an impact on me nonetheless because i was a mod for several months in their main irc channel and i've witnessed very large traffic in there.

I don't post much around here and maybe i'm the only one who thinks this is interesting to see and know about. I hope you all use good precautions when seeding/uploading because i know a few that are involved in lawsuits.

reading between the lines here it sounds as if some of this stuff should be shut down.

I mean if it's getting free movies, music, games etc. free then it is "categorically" stealing and piracy.

Then again, I don't know much about all this stuff so I'm slightly uninformed here but seriously, "file-sharing" on a grand scale such as this is stealing is it not?

Again I'm uninformed so I'm sure someone will explain all this to me.

It is stealing if you don't have a copy of the original yourself. So in most cases people are commiting digital theft I guess if that is truly possible. If artists made more than 15% of CD sales I would care about pirated music. They make almost all of their money off of performing... which is cool because if you can't perform live you don't deserve to make money. I could give a rats ass about pirated movies and video games. Video games are massively marked up and movies make enough as it is in the theaters given how insanely overrated most of them are.

Trackers don't have stored data other then information about where and who is seeding say data. Isohunt was a pure tracker in which keeps info about (otherwise "track's") information of it's users. The ability to shut down a site that does not contain any material that is "stolen" per se, is a huge eye gouge to those who are big seeders. Personally, i have seeded a ration of at least 2.5 in both of my private tracker sites, one in which i've downloaded 400gigs; so i've basically seeded around the 800-900gig alone in 1 site. I'm only a little fish though, in a sea full of whales and sharks, but i will try to be stealthier about my downloading and even more about my sharing.

Torrenting is indeed stealing.

Not confessing to felony on the internet might be a good start.

I'm sure this is a viable enough confession to incriminate me in something they would already have enough evidence to start with. Your +1 post count is once again redundant.

I really don't know what an iso is, however, I feel it would incriminate me if I did know, so I will carry on as is.

iso is an image of a cd/dvd that you can burn or mount on a virtual drive.

The only ISO i ever downloaded was the Windows XP pro 5 days before it was released for sale, when i ran the said ISO it made me burn the CD and then the CD would boot like a bought and paid for windows xp pro CD and i had the CD key.

Of course microsoft got smart, and now its flagged for being counterfiet, and if i hadn't tossed the CD, you could have a first edition XP pro install incapeable of getting any patches or updates!
