Linkin Park's new album Minutes to Midnight is released May 14th/15th. Its the first new set of song tracks since Meteora in 2003. They've gone away from their old, usually sound with mostly rap and some back-up vocals, and the music is supposed to be different.

You can listen to them playing some of the songs here.

I think more people will like this album, even if they didn't like the other two.

I was worried for them after they did the thing with Jay-z, though a lot of people liked that. Hopefully the songs they cut will be used on another album in the near future.

Hey remember when Rage Against the Machine formed Audioslave after De La Rocha left...

And now Linkin Park is changing up their sound to sound like any generic rock band. Even in the video they resemble some U2 wannabes, moves, sunglasses, and all. That new single blows and if they want any of my money then I better hear a better song from them than what they put out there.

The reason I liked Linkin Park was it was the best of both elements and even though it was crazy money in production it still had edge to it. They weren't afraid to experiment. Now this new sound I'm hearing from them sounds so similar to the 8 million other rock bands out there.

I mean when "The River" team up from Avenged Sevenfold members and Good Charlotte sounds like a better song than "What I've Done" I'd say Linkin Park needs some better shit on their album when it's released. Hopefully Rick Ruben and LP won't disappoint.

I'm still slightly upset RJD2's "The Third Hand" is more pop than instrumental.

I liked the Jay-z album. I think they seriously asked Jay what rock band he would like to collaborate with and he said, "ok linkin park!" Even if he farted on the tracks they woulda sounded better.

Shinoda's Fort Minor Project was decent and I applauded him getting Styles of Beyond who was really big NYC underground emcee and it had a few decent tracks. Unfortunatley, many slept on it.

I like Linkin Park 'cause of the sounds they mix together. The new album prolly isn't gonna so much like the last 2, but I still like the singles out now.

Its not the rap part, just the mash up part.

Also, rap sucks anyways.

Simon Cowell has made millions from music and he's no different. Lots of people exist in the industry like this. I've seen lyric writers and songwriters that make more than artists. And ummmmmm, Fred Durst started going downhill when he got full of himself enough to fire Wes, after Significant Other, Limp Bizkit became a failure.

For just as many jokes in the hip-hop and rap industry there are just as many in every other genre. Music is nothing more than preference, you either like what someone puts out or you don't.

So there is no reason to argue in circles. Although that video and song about Porcupine Tree that Ponuh put in from youtube I'd have to give those guys their credit, but then again I listen to just about everything. I have to, it's my profession to absorb it and figure out how to make a living from it. I also just really love music. I' m just disappointed in the hype built up into such a bad single put out by Linkin Park, also I expected more from Rick Rubin whose credits include some of the most groundbreaking influential albums in pop music. Rubin's discography and production credits are beyond incredible. From Red Hot Chili Peppers' Blood Sugar Sex Magic to Jay-Z's 99 Problems to Danzig to Slayer's Divine Intervention to System of a Down to Dixie Chicks to Johnny Cash's cover of Hurt by Nine Inch Nails. Read up:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rick_ruben

Oh yea, and Linkin Park has released a giant tour including themselves, My Chemical Romance, Taking Back Sunday, H I M, Placebo, Julien-K, Mindless Self Indulgence, Saosin, The Bled, Madina Lake and Styles of Beyond. That is one hell of an impressive summer lineup.

My album drops soon... and a free mixtape is also in the works. :)

music industry executives and musicians are entirely different. you can't compare the business facet of the industry with the creative facet.
