That was 10 years ago against a cop, lol. Kimbo's actually a trained fighter now, and that Cops face was mutilated if you watch the video. No way a ref would had let him keep fighting.

I have a friend who is obsessed with Kimbo and made me watch all his videos a while back. He is an excellent brawler, and I agree he is a very scary person. I would run like hell if he wanted to fight me.

I saw that Elite XC fight against Bo Cantrell when it happened. I was in Mexico at a friend's house. We were yelling and cussing at the TV. Bo totally pussed out. See how he tapped out for no reason? He was afraid of getting pummeled by Kimbo haha.

I don't have an insane amount of confidence for Kimbo if he joins UFC because UFC has many seasoned ground fighters and jujitsu blackbelts. I know Kimbo is learning MMA now, but where he shines most is on his feet. If he goes up against a ground fighter that can take him down, he's gonna have trouble. I've seen big dudes like Rampage get taken down by little jujitsu guys in Pride.

I would like to see Kimbo fight somebody like Chuck Liddell. Kimbo would do exceptionally well against the guys in UFC who like to stay on their feet.

Someone at work told me about a video (Im too much of a wuss to watch) of people being paid to take a punch to the leg from kimbo. They were told they would get like 500 bucks of they let someone punch them in the leg. Then when they agreed Kimbo popped out. Im pretty sure he broke something when he punched one of the guys (in their 20s).

I wouldn't let him punch me in the leg for $500 haha. I like being able to walk.

Yeah apparently you can hear the guys leg crack and he just falls to the ground. Im pretty sure I have a link to the video in my email at yarr at yarrthepirate. I havent bother looking at the link due to being a giant pussy and all. I might just have to link it in this thread, but i think the video comes from a nsfw site.

Hooray for yet another standup fighter that is trying to turn UFC into essentially a boxing match. He looks cool and is agressive though, thats about it. I am sure he will do pretty well in UFC, other than when he is facing really skilled ground fighters.

Regarding the gloves...in MMA they only wear 4 ounce gloves that are only for protecting your knuckles. So when you get punched in the face, it feels exactly the same as a fist.

Notice if you punch a punching bag hard for a while with no gloves, you can do some damage to your knuckles lol. This shit is pretty hardcore.

Here is another good Kimbo streetfight video. One of my favs. Watch this dude get knocked out haha. He got fucked up.

nah the best is when that guy's eye is like half out of his face. It's the first kimbo video I ever seen, before I even knew who kimbo was, but he made that dude's eye bleed.. that's pretty crazy

An MMA legend? Hardly. Who are these opponents? Let's see him against top notch competition(UFC). He is training with Bas Rutten so that will help him along. However, the man is in his mid thirties. It would take years to develop a solid ground game to compliment his striking that would put him on an elite level. I highly HIGHLY doubt he broke someones leg with a punch. Pretty much impossible. His old streetfight videos and his general appearence are what drives this mythilogical following he seems to have. Chuck Liddel would knock him the fuck out. Not even close to the same level right now. Again, time will tell, but right now... absolutely not. On a side not... I was always curious what his affiliation was with the people that run milfhunter.com. Yes, I love porn. You seem to see him more than girls in some of those branch off sites.

edit- before anyone says that his striking will overcome a weak ground game. Bullshit. A one dimensional figher that can throw in a few slow muay thai kicks will go no where. It's called MMA and not boxing for a reason. Tank Abbott is a perfect example of this. Again, he seems to have a solid backing and if he trains with the best.. well... yeah. The question is how old will he be by that time.

well.. yeh when someone mentioned "that was 10 years ago before he was training" the only thought that popped in my head was that just means he's older and possibly less capable. The thing that's interesting about the Gannon fight is that because of some of the submission type stuff the cop was doing it totally wore Kimbo out, he doesn't stand a chance against someone who's going to try and wrestle him.

It will also be interesting to see how his conditioning holds up. Training with Bas Rutten is obviously a huge advantage in that area. Gauging the fights he is currently doing against C level fighters, we will see what happens when he fights Tank Abbott... someone that is physically bigger than him AND hits harder than him. Tank also has a backround in wrestling.... doesn't look too good for Kimbo, but Tank is far past his "prime"(if he ever had one).

Overall, I just get the impression Kimbo will follow in the footsteps of other fighters such as Bob Sapp. More of a spectical to bring in cash as he ages than an actual competitor amongst A level fighters.

This guy is a former NCAA wrestling champion. I think he might do well just based on his grappling ability and sheer power. Too bad his debut is against Frank Mir (former heavyweight champ). Plenty of people want him to lose based on the fact that he used to work in the WWE (did a stint in Japan as well). If he does well and gets money, I wonder how long until Kurt Angle goes to MMA. That guy won 2 gold medals in the Olympics and was generally thought of as the best true fighter in the WWE (can beat Lesnar's ass easily supposedly).

Tim Sylvia versus Minotauro Nogueira might be a really good fight as well. Mir (Lesnar's opponent) broke Sylvia's arm a few years ago. That was good stuff, even though Sylvia could have kept fighting.

I stopped watching wrestling a couple years before Brock Lesnar got popular. He looks pretty crazy though, I hope he wins.

I used to watch more All-Pro Japan, FMW and ECW back when I watched wrestling. Brock Lesnar was ok as a pro-wrestler, he wasn't really good on the mic. Decent in ring wrestler for a big man. I don't watch wrestling anymore really. All I know is that he is a former NCAA champ and was undefeated for 2 years in college. That might translate into success, but he is going up against a really good fighter in Mir. I wonder if Mir will try to stand up with him before going for a submission. Brock has to be really good on the ground. He won his first MMA fight in under 1:30 via submission, but that was a K1 Dynamite fight.

Sylvia is a beast and you never know what might happen, but he can be susceptible to being submitted. Nogueira was great in PRIDE for a while. This is mostly a heavyweight card for UFC. The four fighters fighting would of course be future competition for Kimbo if he is to be such a MMA legend since he is obviously a heavyweight.

Yeah looking at these guys I kinda feel like Kimbo would lose to them. Kimbo fights through intimidation and with raw steam, these guy could probably handle it.

Kimbo is the new and improved Tank Abott. All you have to do is weather the storm for 2 minutes and if you aren't knocked out by then, he'll gas.

I used to think Tank was awesome when he took the UFC by storm with his savage style. Now that he has lost nearly all of his fights the past few years, and yet still maintains this badass persona with the "I don't fight to win, I fight to fight" motto... It is getting kind of silly. That is fine if you want to pick fights in bars with chumps for the remainder or your years, but you can't portray that attitude and expect people to take you seriously at such a high level.

I am not surprised that Nogueira won via submission on Sylvia. I didn't see the fight, but it isn't good for Lesnar if he lost from a submission in the first round, even though Mir beat Sylvia in the first round with an armbar for the championship in one round IIRC. Now that Randy Couture is in a contract dispute, UFC might put the heavyweight championship up for grabs again (though Couture currently holds it). In that case probably they would make the match so Nogueira would face Mir, which would be quite the battle. I am unsure what other heavyweights they would put into the picture versus Mir as he was the last champ before Couture from what I can remember.

I watched it. Lesnar was beating the shit out of Mir with brutal G&P. Mir was throwing his head back and forth to avoid shots and Lesnar hit him in the back of the head a couple times. Ref deducted a point from Lesnar and stood them back up. That gave Mir enough time to realize he was in a fight. Lesnar took Mir straight back down and then Mir caught brocks leg. Quick tap after that.

And about Nog. He won the interim HW title. If Randy doesn't come back and he probably wont, then Nog is the undisputed champ.

Btw...the last few HW champs in reverse order were Couture, Sylvia, Arlovski, Mir
