Sunsine and I saw a news broadcast last night about how the FDA approved the sale of food that comes from a cloned animal. There was talk about how some companies refused to sell it and how everyone else will just put a label saying whats cloned and whats not.

I dont understrand what the problem is. Its not like these cows are created in lab by mixing Flask Xr2 with Flask Xv9. This isnt some sort of chemistry magic show. These cows arnt born with defects, their perfectly healthy and if I understand it right, these cows are identical to their non cloned brothers. On top of that I assume the cloned cows would be crazy expensive. I cant imagine that cloning is cheaper than two cows bumping and grinding in a barn lol.

So is all this stink over people having a moral issues with cloning cow? I can't understand what person would have an issue with it. Its not like this is any worse the entire cow slaughtering process.

Im reading a little more into it and some people report that female cows undergo tons of injections for the first few months. I can see that maybe being a problem, but I doubt that out of the billions of cows being killed every year that none of those are injected with any kind of medication.

Yeah from what I've read the cloned cows can cost like 10k or more each. Normal cows cost like 1-2k. Apparently these clones are from top prized cows and will be used pretty much for breading.

The only worry I would have is how messy things would get if the same cow was cloned over and over and being used to bread over and over. We could end up with a bunch of Mikeys roaming around. errrr sorry I mean to say Retarded Cows, not Mikey.

Your second post demonstrated why people have an aversion to eating things pumped full of chemicals. In small and medium sized cities you can buy organically raised, no-chemical beef. We buy a whole cow for about 300-400 bucks and use it for a year.

Besides the mikey joke on my face.

The real problems lies with this.

1. The FDA has approved the use of cloned meat for consumption. But it hasn't made any long term tests on the consumption of the food and its effects on humans.
2. Companies are not required to tell consumers if the meat comes from a cloned animal. Something about that bothers me. There is no way to tell if the meat is cloned, no way of scanning.

3. THe biggest issue i have lol, is that im possibly eating something that doesn't have a soul haha.



Most importantly we need to start actually working on saving our oceans. We are consuming too much, and we've decimated like 80% of fish worldwide. In the next 5 years its possible for a fisherman to wake up go to work and find absolutely nothing NOTHING.

Mercury from fish would probably prove worse than anything cloned haha. Mercury stays in your liver forever.

Also, if any of you have Teflon or non-stick pans that are in any way scratched on the cooking surface, toss that right away. Small particles come off while cooking, which are way worse than what mercury can do lol.

Just tossed 3 pans here. School says iron cast or stainless steel ftw.

When one day the cloned cows are cheaper than regular good old fashioned procreated ones, then we will have made real progress. Right now it isn't cost effective. Beef is beef, bring on the cloned meat.

I wasn't talking about the cut of the meat, I was talking about what it's treated with. If you think that additives and chemicals don't affect the meat then you're deluding yourself.

A cloned cow wouldn't have any more additives or chemicals than a non-cloned cow. They would be the same for the most part. This is meat we are talking about, not vegetables. All meat ever needs is a preservative at most. The beef from a cloned cow would be identical in every sense of the word to a regular cow's beef.

You think that test tube beef wouldn't have any more exposure to chemicals than a farm raised cow?

Also, you need to examine what additives are being put into meat now adays because it's more than preservatives. Supermarket turkeys are injected with a fucked up solution to make them more moist, for example.

It would be the same as it is a clone. If they clone the best "Boar's Head" brand beef cow 100 times, then the meat from all of those cows will be the same. The difference between grass fed and corn fed beef is substantial. That is why most would choose to clone a corn fed cow.

You don't just clone things by sending them through a door and having them come out of another one.
