I've been working on a computer for a friend now for a couple of days. Been making progress and I removed an infestation of over 32 trojans and viruses. It even blocked access to the control panel on his admin. I managed to get access back.

However everyone once in a while the anti virus software and antispyware programs go off warning me of over 50 infected files. Its called backdoor something, Im under the impression that this computer is infected with a root kit thats leaving a gaping hole and hiding from my scanners. I realize the easiest thing to do is wiping the computer and reinstalling the OS. However he does not have an OS disk and the last thing he wants to do is start anew. If anyone has any ideas please let me know your thoughts. WE CAN BRAIN STORM OMG!
