Ive never protested before, but I dont think I've ever really felt compelled to do so. I didnt take part in the protests this time, but I actually feel like I should have. I knew all about these protests and I've followed the Anon vs Scientology right from the start. Ive read most of the threads on somethingaweful and neoGAF. I knew there was a Toronto protest but a few things were stopping me
1) I didnt think that many would show up (ended up being 300+)
2) No way in hell Sunshine would go with me
3) I dont feel like taking the train into Toronto
4) I had to work that day 6AM to 6PM.

I disagree with everything that is Scientology. I base that on the fact that I do like most religions, but this isnt a religion, its a cash cow. Dont get me wrong. It's important for a Church to aquire funds to remain in operation. However, those funds should come from donations, no one should be forced to pay anything. The money should also be going out to help support less fortunate church members or anyone who is in need. I paid a tithe every month (only until I was 12ish and it wasnt every month and it wasnt always the full amount) and I cant say I always enjoyed doing it (thanks Mon and Dad lol), but I did know that the money I donated went to a good cause.

I really do not like Scientology and I would not hesitate in protesting.

Anyway, I was just wondering what everyone here thought. I know the forums are slow so feel free to reply once the forum's speeds are back to normal (not much longer I hope!).

Here are some great links with info.

A very interesting thread is here (its 90+ pages right now and the third huge thred on the issue). I covers two protests and the build up to them. It gives a cool view of seeing the Anonymous people gather up and go at it.

This is an awesome blog that covers the protest in London.

This NeoGAF thread has great world wide coverate of the March 15th protest.

This is the main NeoGAF thread on Anon vs Scientology

And of course the mother of all sites.

This caught on a lot more than I thought it would. I wouldn't think half the people there even really care a whole lot about scientology, it's more just self-aggrandizing flash mobs from ytmnd/SA/4chan ... perfect storm I guess. Regardless I think it's pretty cool. Some of my friends went out to Charlotte, NC for the first one.

And seriously, Tel Aviv? lol

A lot of the people in the philly one seemed genuinely interested in the protest. But just to show that it is a bunch of kids wanting to go out for no reason, a guy was there to protest the battlefield earth movie...

Battlefield Earth was written by LRon. He founded the cult and since hes dead, all his proceeds probably go towards it.

The public wasn't aware of the Church of the second building they bought. A lot seemed interested in the protest, and wanted the fliers I was handing out. Too bad the Atlanta group got busted for not having a permit (were told they didn't need one). Two people were arrested and cleared, and a lot of motorists were cited for honking.

Also, Enturbulation is a good site for info on protests and all the projects of Project Chanology.

Someone should create a religion that protests other religions. That religion should have monthly fees, then turn around and protest things like Scientology. It would be totally awesome.

http://picasaweb.google.com/NINJ4nonymous/315Philadelphia Theres a link to some pics of the Philly raid. One guy there had a sign that just said "Protest sign" and the other side was "Rabble! Rabble! Rabble!"

scientology takes peoples money and seperates them from loved ones, while calling themselves a church. there was a memo saying they ony switched to avoid taxes.

Because fools are easily parted with their money. They lie to their members until they're in too deep. People that try to leave are harassed and sued until their lives are ruined or they go back to the church.
