What is a good aftermarket cooler for a 8800GT graphics card?

i was overclocking it alot tonight and it was getting so hot it shut off and crashed my pc lol ^^b


i pushed it to 702mhz core and about 1050memory clock, turned the stock clock up to 4500rpm and started running 3dmark03

after the first test running at 700-800fps avg, the chip hit nearly, if not higher then 80 C and crashed.

kioto you know of any?

What he meant by stupid, in a more subtle way. When you actually do overclocking, you shouldn't try and push the hardware all the way. Unless you are looking to burn out the graphics card.

Try overclocking it by small amounts. Maybe 2-5% more than what its rated as. Make sure you have proper ways of displacing heat. Otherwise you will fry parts .

i bought an Arctic Cooling Freezer 7 Pro for my cpu



normally on my stock cooler i cant take my 2.13ghz cpu higher then 2.4ghz or it will shut down.

i installed the behemoth cooler and cranked it up(not to the max yet)



2.8ghz @ 30 C

yeah same here, that 2.8ghz was at stock voltages and after i rebooted, its no longer stable going between 6 and 8 multiplier and 1.129-1.296V

There's only so much you can do with a shitty DFI MoBo. If you invest in something decent you'll notice difference in both stability and OC potential. Some instability might not have anything to do with CPU heat, VCM heat is also as important and so is north bridge cooling.
As for the your first question, are you looking into water cooling or air cooling?

mobo I have is P7N diamond and it have copper pipes on SB and NB as well to keep cooling going there. But in another word I always can upgrade those to water cool if I want to.

im looking at air i just ordered a Arctic Cooler accelero 1 Rev 2 for my 8800gt. and this dfi board used to be one of the best overclocking boards back when i was piecing it together. the tester(coolaler of thailand) was able to get a fsb of 600mhz(idk how) with sli(hacked drivers)((i want them ))

You're going way off on this. Plus that MoBo cannot ever be the best OC'ing board even 5 years ago. DFI has crappy boards period.
