Should I bother making another thread no one reads? Ah, why not, it'll give Ponuh something to bitch about!

"Eat The Rich" - P.J. O'Rourke
Speaking of reading, I read this great book on economics. I know what you're thinking, economics is boring! However, this book is funny and gives a much different perspective on economics than most economics books would I think. Granted I haven't read many economics books, but I assume they'd have a different view since he pokes fun at most economics. He travels the world to "study" economics in practice of various economic systems or lack there of and even takes an econ course for kicks.

Liberals will hate this book and think he's leaning conservative, but they'd be wrong. I'm pretty sure he's leaning libertarian. Okay, okay, libertarians are closer to conservatives on economics issues. So I guess he's leaning conservative since they lean closer to libertarian than liberals do when it comes to economics. But how conservative could a Rolling Stones writer be?!

And remember what your parents taught you! Don't leave home without property rights!
"Reefer Madness" - Eric Schlosser
Just started reading it. When I returned "Eat the Rich" to the library, I walked right to the econ/politics section of the non-fiction and checked out this book that I saw when I checked out "Eat the Rich." The librarian commented, "Wow, you picked that out fast." Well, I had to get to work.

This book starts off where "Eat the Rich" left off. "Reefer Madness" begins with he same Adam Smith economics theories of the invisible hand and improving the world by being selfish that the last chapter of "Eat the Rich" focuses on. This book explores the black market, specifically pornography, marijuana and illegal aliens (sex, drugs and cheap labor).
Quote:
What happens in the black market is worth examining because of the way fortunes are made there, lives are often ruined there, and the vicissitudes of the law can deem one man a gangster or a chief executive (or both). If the market does embody the sum of all human wishes, then the secret ones are just as important as the ones that are openly displayed.
"Wealth of Nations" - Adam Smith

Thanks for the suggestions. I wonder if anyone doesn't know that Anthony Kiedis is in Red Hot Chili Peppers. I suppose, since no one on Alexander seems to know that Flea was the bass player. They thought my taru Fleabass was a fish. >< Of course if they didn't make fun of my name I probably would have stayed on Alexander and I wouldn't have met you guys on Ifrit. So you can blame my stupid posts on the the stupid non RHCP fans on Alexander.

What's the best online bookstore to link to? I picked Amazon cuz they gave me free mp3s for drinking pepsi. yah! for marketing ploys!
