at 1230am, one of my best friends of all time died in a horrible car crash. she was basically run over by a drunk driver and died instantly. i've known her since we were 12. she was about to get married in a few months. her wedding invitation is still on my fridge. her ticket to the atlanta braves opening day is sitting on my dining room table. her fiance, whom i've also known for many years, was out backpacking in the mountains and didn't find out for about 24 hours. the killer was airlifted to a hospital where he escaped thanks to the help of a crooked police officer. but about 6 hours later the cops captured him. i hope he rots miserably and suffers a lot in prison. then later one of my closest relatives died of a heart attack. granted he was in his 80s, he lived a full life. but he was kind of the patriarch of one side of my family. he and his family welcomed my family to atlanta in 1991 and we always had thanksgiving dinner and other events with them. he was just doing yard work and keeled over. don't let life pass by without letting your loved ones know you care a lot about them. |

Damn whisp sorry to hear this but having a close friend taken is hardest thing to have. Then closest family member that passed away is also hardest as well. May angel of death come forth and take their soul and guide them to heaven to face god, So they Rest in peace. I had like 5 of my friends get killed from different things that happen, and 8 to 9 family member passed away as well or others. with in 5 year peroid. which suck for me as well. I agreed the last part what you said whisp. |

I reserved my post on this just to see if it turned out to be an April Fools thing, but now that we're past that, my deepest condolences go out to you, Whisp. And I agree about your comment on loved ones. Let them know you love them every single day if you can, you never know when your last chance will be to tell them. Again, my thoughts are with you. |

update to this story about mary. her brother danny (29) died today. he had been in need of a heart transplant because of some heart defect he had. mary's heart didn't make it through the car crash intact back in 2009, unfortunately. anyway this week he finally got a heart match, and underwent surgery. everyone was so happy. but he never came-to, and had 3 heart failure events on day 3, the third of which they couldn't jumpstart his new heart. it's horribly tragic... |

Wow... I can't imagine laying down on a hospital bed thinking, in the next few hours my life will be made so much better, and having a lot to look optimistically forward to...then never waking up again. My heart really goes out to his family. Tragic doesn't seem like a broad enough word for their losses. I don't know how they can carry on. I also feel sorry for the family of the anonymous donor too. |

My uncle had open heart surgery last year and the entire concept of it just blew my mind. For a very breif moment hes pretty much dead. |
