whats really funny is that if by some miracle mccain wins, he most likely will not run again in 4 years; and since I think the VP usually is the next nominee of that party, and hillary will undoubtedly run again in 2012 if obama loses, it will be clinton vs palin haha CAT FIGHTTTTTTTTTTTTTT

i think the running mate choice for mccain is going to hurt him.
as the obama campaign puts it, "if mccain wins, sarah palin is a (frail) heartbeat away from the presidency"
her experience in management is 20 months as a mayor or something in alaska of a town of 6000 people. and she has a retarded child to tend to as well. she's not going to be getting any of the hillary votes because she's so right wing. her presence ruins the conservatives' "obama is young & inexperienced" argument. i don't think she offers much of anything for mccain.
obama's pick of joe biden was a great pick. running mates aside, i think obama is a shoe in. he has my vote still.

Shes got more experience than obama from what i've heard on CNN ( she's also been the governer of alaska for 2 years), but your right it really doesn't make much sense that mccain picked her after critisizing obama's experience so much lol; one thing she does do is make conservatives happy, shes as pro life and anti gay as you can get haha

edit: correction; She was the mayor of a town in alaska since 1999, and since 2006 shes been the governer of alaska

Actually, McCain's choice was primarily to appease the conservative base. One of his main problems with Republicans
and conservatives in particular was his stance on abortion. Many conservatives, myself included, really see McCain
as a "lesser of two evils" so to speak, and may not have even planned on voting in this election.

In fact, this VP announcement was a strong enough concession to the hardline pro-lifers that Dr. James Dobson
finally endorsed McCain. For anyone who doesn't know who he is, he's one of the more well known and more politically
active Christian leaders. This is a BIG deal. While you might scoff, if you look at the Republican Party in recent
history, they have had much more success when they try to cater to the conservative base, rather than reach the
moderate undecideds. How else did George W. Bush get reelected to his second term? Surely there were enough
people on the left and anti-war that hated him. It was only because he had the support of the Christian conservatives
that Bush even had a prayer (pun intended).

So although this candidate for VP may well be inexperienced, McCain's goal here was to solidify his support in
conservative circles. I still don't really like him, but I have to hand it to him on this one. We may look back on this
announcement as a master-stroke that turned the election around for McCain. I'll be interested to see which VP
selection turned out to help/hurt their running mate more. Personally, I doubt Biden could do anything more to help
Obama beyond not doing or saying anything stupid. If someone is going to vote for Obama, they are going to vote for
him regardless of the running mate because they are sold on him.
