I have been feeling bad downloading music lately...so when Evanescence came out with a new album, I decided to buy it. It was 10$ well spent(on sale Hot Topic)! Anyone else like her new album "The Open Door"? Omg song 4, Lithium, is amazing! It's my profile song for myspace if you want to check it out. ^_^ I love Amy Lee. =)

Is it really that good? I usually download first before I buy, I hate to waste money and a trip to teh Best Buy on a crappy CD.

Its on your myspace still?

EDIT:

I like, but do they have any fast pace stuff also? I hate when the whole album is the crying stuff.

Ya, Lithium is the slowest song. If you liked her first album, you will like this one too.

Hi, long time no post ;p

I was actually disappointed with this album, especially the second half.

Amy Lee has seemingly fallen into a musical rut. If you listen to a lot of album you'll find a lot of the same melodic patterns in her singing, and I hate that, (same problem I have with Flyleaf.) Her use of accidentals to sort of get a jazzy sound in songs like Lose Control sound bleh and contrived. The other thing that bothers me is that I think in every song she uses some kind of vocal effect in her voice. Hi, Amy, you have a great voice. Stop mucking it up with reverb and chorus effects, thanks.

Secondly, from a guitar players stand point, I have a huge problem with the guitar tone. I think it sounds muddy as hell, Weight of the World in particular (acoustic tone = icky). Also, I find nothing particullarly inventive or interesting in the riffs, (I liked Ben Moody a lot more, and I liked Terry Balsamo better in Cold, so ;p)

There's a lot of really awkward transitions, the beginning of All that I'm living for made me say, "Quoi?" for example

I'll give credit to a few songs. Sweet Sacrifice is ok, and I actually really like Lacrymosa, but overall I didn't think it was that solid.

Just a short opinion. It's not bad, it's just not what I was hoping for.

hey SS :-P

I always though Amy Lee had a good voice, but at the same time gets very annoying after about 2 minutes of listening to it.

They're sort of like if the government somehow cloned Richard Simmons and used the clones to infultrate the secret world of boy bands in order to stop some global crisis. The one thing they failed to realize was that Richard Simmons clones were a global crisis in themselves. When they finally saw their mistake, they knew the clones had to die.
