Honestly, I'd probably just go for Deadlegend for recognition and because I wouldn't want people to think some other asshole who takes the name is me. If not that then Wander, or something Finnish (Vaeltaja, Sankari, Soturi, Pimea, Aaltojen etc). If taru it'd be a food item or something in the same vein as Mikey...I have a taru named Davy already actually and wouldn't mind one called Cannedravioli.

and yeah, I was friggin shocked when I got Davy. Later on a galka appeared named "Davey" I totally screwed that guy.

Been trying to follow updates but not much new info is coming yet, also i seem to have put myself in the fortunate position right now that my PC died a few months ago and my cat kicked (yes kicked) my beer over my laptop and thus all i have is my shitty work laptop and an excuse to buy a new PC when this comes out beta or retail looking forward to getting on a server with you guys but will be a new name for sure! and not an elvaan either got bored of looking at the long pointy ears all day.

No idea. We still know next to nothing. Although a new Famitsu just came out and so far I've not heard of there being any new FFXIV info in it. We may end up waiting til TGS (September) before we start getting any real details.



There's definately a 1-2 second snippet of footage in the trailer that isn't rendered using whatever they used to render the rest of the CGI. It's definately using some kind of real-time engine with some real in-game assets. Whether that amounts to the same in-game engine we'll get, who knows.

Specifically, the shot of the "Galka" swinging a weapon, and the shot of the Mithra casting a shield-like spell are rendered real-time. Pause a HD version of the trailer at that point and you can pretty much count the number of polygons on top of the characters and monsters.

It's pretty easy to force a game engine to render at a super high quality at like 1 FPS, and then play back the video 60 times faster and you've got yourself some "looks awesome" "in-game footage", regardless of the performance of the actual engine or hardware.
