More importantly, all characters are getting wiped again on August 25th.

Dunno how the heck SE ever expect us to test stuff above rank 20 when they keep changing the game so its harder to level and then knocking everyone back to 1 again, lol.

Oh well, at least in the so called "open beta" that people still have to all sign up for (really open), we get to try out places that aren't Limsa Lominsa. We wont have to hear that stupid guy in the intro anymore.

LIMSA LOMINSA!
HA HA HA!
A SIGHT FER ME SORE EYES!

etc..

haha, yeah i've been reading about this. what in the fuck is so open about having to apply still? i thought having to apply was the definition of "closed." maybe the subscription will be free too, as long as you pay a monthly fee.

Beta Keys Update from Square Enix

Square Enix emailed us to let us know how the beta keys you won here at FFXIVCore.com (and other community sites) will work when Open Beta starts. Basically, the keys will change when the open beta goes live. Everyone that is already registered and playing in the beta will be sent an e-mail to their registered Square Enix Account with a new key that can be redeemed in the same fashion as previous keys.

However, if you did not register your key yet, please do so right now! Because once phase 3 ends, they will no longer work. Therefore we want to make sure everyone at least registers them now, so that you'll get the updated key when they’re automatically sent out.

So how does someone who didnt play in Beta get a Key? Thats what I want to know. It was my wife who got picked for beta, not me. I want to play open beta using my login, not hers.

Ultimately I dont care, but it would be nice to get my account working for Open Beta.

I guess if you already have a key and its registered you will just get an e-mail with the new key. If you dont have a existing key the you would have to apply for one.
I confuzzled, i dont have a clue what they mean lol

If it's open beta I don't see why you would even need a key

The details for the FINAL FANTASY XIV Open Beta Test are described below.

Operating Procedure
Schedule:
Tuesday, August 31, 2010 at 19:00 (PDT)

*The Open Beta Test will be online continuously for 24 hours a day.
*Maintenance and any other announcements will be posted accordingly.

*Information on testing dates and times will also be posted on the official FINAL FANTASY XIV Twitter feed.
http://twitter.com/FF_XIV_JP
http://twitter.com/FF_XIV_EN
http://twitter.com/FF_XIV_DE
http://twitter.com/FF_XIV_FR

Log-in Capacity
During the initial stages of the beta test, the number of players allowed to be logged in at any given time will be limited, with capacity to gradually increase as adjustments are performed on server load. Should the maximum capacity already be reached when you attempt to log in, a message will appear indicating that the world is currently congested, and you will be asked to try again in a short while. At this time you will be placed on a waiting list in the order of attempted log-in time. To maintain your position on the waiting list, you must initiate the log-in procedure again within ten minutes of your first attempt.

Feedback Submission
While playing, testers who have been asked to submit opinions on anything at all regarding topics such as game balance issues, settings that you may have found difficult to understand, and features that you felt were inconvenient, unintuitive, or required further explanation are asked to use the feedback hread, and for those testers who have been assigned the task of reporting bugs are asked to use the bug report form.

The beta manual has been updated, theres a lot of text commands now.

There's a command for every single emote, as well as a lot of the old FFXI macro commands such as <st> for subtarget, <hp> to show HP, a /check command, a command to target the nearest monster (thank god, finally), and commands for things like buzzes and to mark monsters and stuff. There's a lot.

It also says that /sit will sit you in a chair if a chair is nearby. It's such a simple thing but I think that's awesome lol. Can actually go and sit around a table in the bar while hanging around town instead of just standing around or sitting on the floor.

They haven't said anywhere yet. They said that people currently in closed beta would be e-mailed a new key soon.

One assumes there'll be a signup page soon for open beta. (Not exactly "open" but this is SE afterall)

Heck yeah, now I can remake all my old macros. Hopefully you can also select party members with F# keys but I didn't notice that in the manual.

"From Aug. 30, 2010 21:00 to Aug. 31, 2010 2:00(PDT), we will be performing maintenance on the Square Enix Account Management System. Please be advised that users will not be able to access the Square Enix Account Management System during this period."

I suppose this will be the update for the Open Beta keys for peeps that had closed beta keys, and peeps will have to register a SE account to get the beta keys if they didnt already have one.
just guessin tho
