Supafly's Guide to {Battle Regimens}

I would advise someone to read up a bit about BR of they have not done so as I have joined a LS that appreciates the little intricacies that make this game promising. BR will help tremendously when done correctly or it will waste time if done as a “pray and spray” tactic.

Hopefully this will help everyone that is interested. Often I needed a sheet of paper or guide to help with this but no more as I have included my own self-made guide to help everyone out there earn SP and XP faster. You’re welcome in advance!

*****When just joining BR and not calling out a Regimen*****

:Macro:toggles Battle Regimen on/off
/br

:When Calling BR:
Key:
NA – Normal Attack
MA – Magic Attack
MS – Magic Spell
WS - Weaponskill

*{_}- Means Many of these will also auto-translate after being performed via the auto-translate function.

RUIN - > Lowers a target’s physical defense (normal attack -> normal attack)
:Macro:
/br
/p {Regimen of Ruin} = NA -> NA

TRAUMA -> Lowers a target’s magic defense (normal attack -> magic attack)
:Macro:
/br
/p {Regimen of Trauma} = NA -> MA

DESPAIR -> Increases a target’s casting time/raises MP costs (normal attack -> magic spell
:Macro:
/br
/p {Regimen of Despair} = NA -> MS

CONSTRAINT -> Lowers a target’s TP progression/raises TP costs (normal attack -> weaponskill)
:Macro:
/br
/p {Regimen of Contraint} = NA -> WS

JOB - Maintains the effectiveness of class abilities when used by different classes
(magic spell -> magic spell (both from same class))
(weaponskill -> weaponskill (both from same class))
Macro:
/br
/p {Battle Regimen} Class – WS -> WS / MS -> MS

DMG - Increases Player Damage:
(weaponskill -> weaponskill -> magic spell (weaponskills from different classes, finishing spell is optional))
(magic spell -> magic spell -> weaponskill (spells from different classes, finishing weaponskill is optional))

Macro:
/br
/p {Battle Regimen} DMG = WS -> WS -> MS

Incapacitations:
• In order for “incaps” to work you have to be hitting the mob from the area specified. It will tell you this in the battle log (ex. Your “ “ hits copper coblyn from the rear for xxx damage”)

Head:
/br
/p {Battle Regimen} {Incapacitated} {Head}!
/p {Concussive Blow} II / {Skull Sunder} II / {Shrieker}
/echo <sign3>

Rear (Outer/Other):
/br
/p {Battle Regimen} {Incapacitated}{ Rear}!
/p {Luminous Spire} / {Pounce} / {Trunksplitter} II
/echo <sign3>

Left Arm:
/br
/p {Battle Regimen} {Incapacitated} {Left}!
/p {Maim} / {Chaos Thrust} / {Foeseeker}
/echo <sign3>

Right Arm
/br
/p {Battle Regimen} {Incapacitated} {Right}!
/p {Riot Blade} / {Moonrise} II / {Barrage}
/echo <sign3>

Lower Limbs
/br
/p {Battle Regimen} {Incapacitated} {Right}!
/p {Red Lotus} II / {Seismic Shock} / {Skewer} II
/echo <sign3>

Right (Side/Other)
/br
/p {Battle Regimen} {Incapacitated} {Right}!
/p {Spinstroke} II / {Victimize} II / Bloodletter
/echo <sign3>

Left (Side/Other)
/br
/p {Battle Regimen} {Incapacitated} {Right}!
/p {Simian Thrash} / {Brutal Swing} II / {Twisting Vice}
/echo <sign3>

Abilities to help with Battle Regimens:

GLA - “Cadence” & LNC – “Keen Flurry”
*These stack
:Macro:
/ac "Cadence" <me>
/ac “Keen Flurry” <me>

Of course you can get fancy and....

:Macro:
/ac "Ferocity" <me>
/ac "Raging Strike" <me>
/ac "Cadence" <me>
/ac “Keen Flurry” <me>

etc.

Strategy
Unless killing an NM or something 1 (maybe 2) BRs should be done per mob to make the battle easier. Usually the only occasion one will find themselves in the middle of a ton of BR is for NM’s, Battle Leves with high level mobs, or with a LS of people that BR and know what they are doing to grind certain mobs. BR should not last very long, if someone has cued BR and it has been longer than 5 seconds…it has been too long!

Usually in a grind or leve the BR consists of about 4 people
2 are doing DEF down or something while the other 2 are designated to stack BR WS DMG
So a typical grind goes something like this:
Group of 6: Tank attacks Diremite then provokes – BR RUIN (repeat if not landed) – attack, attack, attack – BR DMG – next mob repeat etc.

This is only a suggestion as some have found certain BRs work better for certain mobs than others. The sky is now the limit in terms of this underappreciated part of FFXIV and you now have the macros to slay or incapacitate harder things faster.

Fire -> Blizzard -> Aero

Thunder -> Water -> Stone

"Flashfreeze" Weaponskill also incaps the "head" of mobs.

While I have delved into the macro section of BR, Ket Solais has a more definitive guide to the actual strategy of Battle Regimens for our LS members...so for our members - read up ^^b
