Yeah that pretty much perfectly sums up what Im expecting.

Been playing Starcraft II a lot lately and that's about it. I was thinking about getting FFXIV recently, but I guess that would be a bad idea haha.

edit: shit let's all just level new characters on FFXI.

seriously, though. :3

you bring up a really really really good point. These fixes are not content. They seem to think that fixing a broken system will give us more to do. Honestly I dont understand how SE is prioritizing their work.

posting this here instead of the forum thread because its more directly related.

There was a blurb on the JPN forums that physical levels are being removed. After that ranks will become the new levels, and SP is going to be changed into just old fashioned EXP.

Yoshi also said that he'd be ok with adding windurst style tellataru and an item buy back system if you accidentally sell the wrong item to an npc vendor lol. However, after the battle system and subsequent tweaks the next hill on the list to tackle are server response issues.

I wonder why server response is such a big issue to be on the same level as rehauling the entire job and battle system of the game. makes me wonder if they're gearing up to change the zones up.
At least i know there's lots of blood out for the black shroud on the japanese forums lol.

Pam and I recently started playing FFXI again. Abyssea shit is overwhelming at first but you get used to it fast. Basically the entire game is based around Abyssea now and you can ignore everything else, which is nice in a way but also makes me wonder why we did any previous shit. Ifrit got moved to Odin of course so Yarr wouldn't have the CKD shell, especially since I believe Mafai used Hccmike's character to recreate it and now holds the shell.

There's still a few people like Valisk and Cail playing (whom have been helping us out), and if any of you guys would decide to play again and land on Odin it would be nice. We're holding back on transferring right now until we decide that we're actually gonna stick with the game long term, but at the moment it looks like we're going to since there's a lot to do and catch up on.

I've thought about reactivating. My only concern is how long will the game last? It has been out 8 years already, do I really want to spend time on something that might not be there much longer?

Kayne, have you heard anything about how long they plan on keeping the game running?

I miss you guys but endless grinding, stats meaning shit, being punished with less anima/aspect/fatigue and the same leves over and over isn't the content I desired in a FF MMO. I will log in again to play eventually but I've been out and about with the womenz and venturing {Outside} and playing Portal 2...oh wait...this isn't Portal 2...

Miss ya supa :( Everyone seems to go through little blocks of playing then quitting and perhaps playing again for abit haha, I just hope SE fixes their shit in time before everyone loses so much interest that they'll never return. At this point I just don't have confidence SE can do it anymore, since the 1 year mark is 3 months away and the game is still. . .like this haha. As for XI, I thought about it but I think it would just depress me to be playing a game that old. Not because it isn't good, but just because I knew I was sort of wasting my time biding time until a new MMO. I reactivated WoW thinking I would play it until XIV got good, and I spent 2 weeks on WoW playing really fun PVP but then suddenly lost all interest and quit again; it was just too old a game for me to stick with.

I can't bring msyelf to login to FFXIV anymore. I'm also sick of repeating the same leves (even though I'm doing it with a fun group). I hope this next patch really has more content than autoattack. I will start playing again after the patch.

Zelda OOT comes out this weekend for 3DS...that should pass the time :)

I have a RDM48 (3rd account. lol). Kitty and I tried playing around a year ago. It was fun until we had to start using to look for upgrades, and the AH was barren for low-level stuff.

I don't see either of us starting it back up again, but who knows. I'll always be upset that I lost Ridere the way I did.

before having to install xiv again i considered going back to ffxi. About 1 year ago i was able to get a hold of Omacore and use that account for awhile, and used it to plvl another account. It went well till about 35 and i ran into the same problem, nothing on the ah to use as an upgrade. I cant bring myself to camp emp again, or really any nm hunting. It was also hard finding a group, granted this was a year ago, i do not expect the situation improved... if anything i would think it has gotten worse.

apparently there's a patch. Who knows what it's for, or if it's something you folks have already downloaded it. Maybe it's dungeons.

[patch1.17c] Patch 1.17c Notes
Fixed Bugs
Measures have been implemented to address the recurring server failure issue occurring in market areas.
Measures have been implemented to address the issue wherein viewing the linkshell member list may cause the client to crash.
The following bugs have been addressed:
A bug wherein the enemies "Prince of Pestilence" and "Unknown Soldier" may neither be seen nor targeted despite appearing on the minimap.
A bug wherein the location of one's retainer may change following server failure.
A bug wherein the journal entry may not be updated for the quest "A Piece of History."

---------------------------------

Apparently they don't bother removing the other minor things from the patch, so we just keep downloading the same 300 mb. Patch is just a few junk fixes. I did notice the Task board in LL seemed to be working, however. No clue when that started.

i convinced a rl friend to reroll on ffxi because he lost his old account. 6 days later he hit lvl 90. thats including doing all limit breaks, unlocking subjob, and full skill up on dagger and evasion for maat (he was thf). Abyssea exp is so broken it takes alot of the lvl grind out of it. In 1 day i lvled my Mnk from 85-90, got 20 merits, then went and job changed and took warrior from 37-85. Think the pt lasted maybe 10 hours.

It's unfortunate that there aren't any solid alternatives at the moment to move on to... I'm still watching this forum/thread in case something interesting crops up. I rather enjoyed playing with you folks even if it was super brief. We should just make our own MMO! With black jack! And hookers!
