It seems weird that they're being extremely vague about these last 10 days. I mean why bother keeping the servers online for 10 days later, or rather why not just delay the final save by 10 days. It not like ARR's beta is any time soon. So is there any actual purpose to all this?

Wonder if there's going to be a crazy event that they're intentionally keeping quiet about. They do seem to not bother talking about any of the "live event" stuff except in their role play news article things. So maybe they have something planned and just aren't talking about it.

Again though, I can't imagine anything it could possibly be that warrants disabling the ability to save a week early.

Do any of you that have been playing and/or keeping up with news have any sort of estimate for 2.0 beyond "2013"? I've had the urge to get my mmo on and this whole no saving/server shutdown is really flustering my fanny.

The original idea was for it to go live for people who already have accounts around December, and then they'd have the retail box (both for new PC players and PS3 players) come late January/Feb 2013.

They're being really quiet on actually pinning down a release date now though until Beta starts and they can see if the game's ready or not. They don't want to make the same mistake they made last time and force the game out of the door when it's clearly not ready.

So, anybody's guess. We'll probably have a better idea once alpha is over in about a month though.

Lots of Free-to-Port camps now. I went to Black Brush for free, and the music was normal for a minute and then changed to a really eerie track.

hyperion has already found an obvious exploit. stand inside Uldah and shoot out at the level 60s and 70s. they dont fight back. hahaha

after fending off about 20 rounds of high level monsters and bosses, there was a 5 minute lull, someone mentioned goobbues, and next thing you know we have formed 2 lines of goobbues to defend the city! haha!

It's kinda silly that they can't cross the zone line. Kinda like the ones in town all lined up along an imaginary line for people to just stand behind and nuke them with no recourse. Was neat for a few minutes then got boring, lol.

All Worlds Maintenance (Nov. 2)

At the following date and time, we will be performing maintenance on FINAL FANTASY XIV to implement a version update for the final event. During this period, FINAL FANTASY XIV will be unavailable.

[Update Details]
Below are Updates related to the end of the Seventh Umbral Era:

- Weaker monsters that are being repelled by adventurers will be replaced by deadlier types.
- Certain monsters that have been hiding their true potential will now unleash their wrath. (This has been already implemented for some of the monsters)
- These monsters will no longer be stunned by a mere Wrist Flick.
- As relief for adventurers facing enormous odds stacked against them, anima recovery rate will be multiplied by 30 to make it easier to call for help.

Nov. 2, 2012 from 2:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. (PDT)

* The completion time may be subject to change.

This event isnt as exciting as I thought. I logged in twice and didnt see much other than some goblins running around Uldah.

I want some freaking Behemoths running around. I want Titan and Ifrit teaming up to take out Grid. I want some bad ass shit we could only get in a situation like this.

I think the event is neat. And if they didn't do it, it would be lame. But it's also not something that can keep a person's interest for a week and a half. We need rewards. And if it's not long-term rewards, then give us something absolutely absurd like buildings crumbling or being able to fly or grow 10 times larger or PvP or something nuts.
