Is anyone else getting this error when attempting to login to download the update?

The email took a while to find as it got sent to my junk mail folder.

Is this a real problem, or are they just trying to sell the security tokens?

I saw a lot of people reporting that on the ffxiv sub reddit. not sure the cause.

That happens if you ever log into your account from a new IP address. If you change IP addresses often (ISP, or playing from multiple locations) then this can happen a lot.

The problem goes away if you use the Security Token. You can of course use the new free phone app version. I highly recommend you do so, it takes a few extra seconds when you log in but it'll make your account nigh-on unhackable.

Thanks! It looks like it's blocked until I register my purchased copy, but I will do it then.

I was getting the same message but only when I stopped playing final fantasy xiv 1.0 it was a pain in the ass to get un-banned.
