I find it odd that a bunch of the minions require trading of Allagan Tomestones, considering they're limited in number and unobtainable in future.

EDIT: Well, technically nothing says they're unobtainable in future. The only method we know of right now is trading in cracked gear though. Might be dungeons as Corwin says.

Btw I found this description a neat throwback to the days of Kuftal Tunnel:

That's awesome, and pretty much applies to the entire FFXI leveling strategy. Hah.

I'm not sure how to get the Allagan Stones for AF2. I did see you could trade in primal currency for Allagan stones...however I believe it's the same ones used for purchasing darklight. I have about 900 worth from melded gear. Barely enough to get anything decent.

I barely made it to Mor Dhona before I logged out for the last time. So I only browsed those NPC for a few minutes. I'm curious if you can no longer trade in primal currency (or whatever it's called) i.e. vortrex totem, inferno totem, kupo nut charm for actual weapons. I only saw the option to trade for stones.

Currently you can trade old melded gear, primal tokens, or hamlet seals for tomestones of philosophy. No way to get tomestones of mythology. I'm 99% sure we will get tomestones from doing high level dungeons.

Ah, so I'm hosed then. None of those pets for me, because I didn't have cracked materia gear to trade in. Sadness :(

You can possibly get them from grinding primals since you get 15 tombstones for each primal token. Garuda would be your best best since she drops those 100% to each player. That will probably change though.

regarding the smallshell crab minion
we camped costa del sol south shore for half an hour at least, beating the same nearby FATEs over and over and "It's Not Lupus" wouldn't pop. then very soon after a FATE on the other side of the zone, (Ho Ho Ho), despawned -- which was too far away for us to bother with -- then It's Not Lupus popped. so they may be connected.

It was also roughly around an hour after the last one despawned that we couldn't kill in time.
