Since the Lodestone creates a little avatar I thought it would be neat to code a forums avatar that automatically updates when the Lodestone does. So I coded a php script to do just that.

Anyone here can use this, so feel free too. The data is pulled by your Lodestone id, which you can find in the url.

Example: na.finalfantasyxiv.com/lodestone/character/871200

Then just take the ID at the end and put it in the URL for my site:
http://www.pals4life.com/ffxiv/avatar/871200.jpg



To use this image on CKD forums go to this page: ucp.php?i=profile&mode=avatar

And enter the image url under the Link off-site field.

Set the dimensions to 96x96 and you're all set!

If the Lodestone changes it's code base this will break. However I am using the XIVDB.com API and they seem really on the ball so odds are I can get it fixed really fast.

* Note: I haven't tested this extensively but it seems to work on any character.

Those images only work if you're logged in on their site, it seems. People who don't use their site can't see them. Just getting an X, get a login page if I try to direct link the URL.

The login issue should be fixed now. Let me know if anyone still can't see the images.

Going to work on caching the images on my server I guess. I'm finding the images load slow on a thread where a few people are using them. Won't be quite as dynamic but still relatively.

Still can't see them, and I just get an X in a new browser window now. It's returning a successful server header (200) with image/png, but there's no data in the body it looks like?

I tried using an incognito/inprivate window to ensure nothing was cached and no cookies or sessions were interfering, but no difference. I'd recommend you try the same, because despite removing the login requirement, you might still have a session cookie set that is keeping it working for you.

I tested on a PC at the office that's never been to my site or the Lodestone. It seems to work fine in Chrome and Firefox for me, but IE is giving an issue. So I'll try and resolve that and get some caching in soon.

Just add the ID at the end, not the whole URL. Sorry if that wasn't clear.

It's broken right now, SE changed the lodestone a bit so I gotta fix it. Probably get it done this weekend.
