Most MMO's pigeon hole players via skill trees and talent points, not SE, they are above that. they just take a whole class and deuce on it.

At least there attempting to fix a design flaw sooner than later and recognizing a class, that for the most part was being ignored, because of it.

It seems the DPS classes overall, are more balanced, and play equally in raids and SE is just bringing WAR to where it was intended to be.

I have a sneaking suspicion, that the current WAR abilities where a hold out of some of the 1.0 designers. they gave a it a chance, realized it need to be reworked, and said fuck it. There is no way that during testing it wasn't noticed that WAR and PLD really were not on same page.

Grats to SE on fixing that.

It's really incentivized me for getting the rest of that tank darklight. I'd like to get my WAR relic'd before this goes live, so I can toy with both.

17 more end-game dungeons away, and an afternoon of fates, away :D

Nice, was trying to decide between war and blm to level next think this will sway it as i was put off by the you need awesome gear to tank with it, WAR was what I had planned to play till in beta I found it sucked :( to settled on BRD, good stuff :)

Also all the end game stuff sounds like fun, will give way too much to do >< then all these extra quests... 2.1 will be a busy time.

Not sure I'd want to myth up two tank jobs. I'd rather have a bit more variety. haha. I'll probably pick one and stick with it. At least in your case, Reg, you only invested 600 myth into the Curtana +1, but it seems like if you were trying to do both PLD and WAR, you're either thinking super long-term, or you're gonna have a bad time. haha.

Unless, of course. BiS for both is all allagan, or something. I see a lot of PLD af1.5 around to make me think otherwise, though.

Im of the opinion that allagan and myth are so close that it's hard to call one BiS over the other. A lot of people chase Critical Hit Rate like it's some kind of superpower, which is silly. Aside from VIT and whatever your main stat is, all the other ones pale in comparison. As for PLD & WAR like myself we're gonna want all Allagan if possible because it can be shared between the two.

If both items have the same stats and one of them has crit, then that's definitely going to be the one you want as a damage dealing class, lol. Also, seeing how the scholar aldoquium shield is better with crit, it's a completely viable secondary stat to mind.

Obviously doesn't matter for tanks.

Well, even as a tank, If ACC caps at X, and you have X + 50 ACC on your gear, that's 50 points of ACC that is being wasted, when it could be 50 extra crit, or whatever the differences are you find on tank gear.

It is nice being able to share gear, though!

true, ridere, you want to balance your mini-stats. don't go all-out for any one stat. too little acc and you'll whiff, too much acc and it's wasted. boosting your crit rate from 350 to 400 nearly doubles your crit percentage, but going from 400 to 450 only gives you a quarter of an increase. as with all linear models, determination gives diminishing returns, thus you wanna put some points there but not too much. skill speed actually has increasing returns, where if you lower your GCD from 2.45 to 2.40 it's a 2.08% DPS increase, but if you go from 2.40 to 2.35 it's a 2.13% increase. but if you pump too much into this, you may mess up your timers and not be able to squeeze in your cooldowns properly.

it's all about balance.
and it also depends on the job.



edit: spell speed is perhaps different. from what i've read, it's useful for BLM because it relies pretty heavily on casting times for damage. meanwhile SMN/SCH/WHM don't have as high a need for it.

It's been confirmed on the forums that the i90 to i95 boost is only for T5 weapons.

I'm okay with this. I'm totally cool with the people farming T5 getting their awesome special weapons, because that's a hard turn to clear. And it also means all our myth purchases aren't invalidated :D
