Well, this sucks. I want the Paragon's Gown. It'd be an awesome mage vanity piece.

The problem? It comes from the 3,000 FATEs achievement. As somebody who didn't Exp in 2.0 until after dungeons were patched, I've done a grand total of 120 FATEs.

That said, even with FATE Exp grinding, 3000 FATEs is a shit-ton and will take forever. There's gotta be a fast(er) way. And that's what I'd like to bring up here. Anybody got any ideas?
  • FATEs aren't as popular anymore as far as I know. Finding a spot where lots of people are just grinding the hell out of FATEs extremely quickly is not going to be as easy as it once was.
  • Is there any area of the game that has a ton of really quick FATEs in a relatively small spot?
  • I'd thought of using the Crystal Tower FATEs since I thought they repopped instantly, but I just tested this and it appears they don't. Maybe somebody who needs the quest needs to be nearby?

I was hoping that providing that FATE could be repopped instantly, you could sit in one spot with a small group of 4-5 people and essentially knock it out in 30 seconds and get 100+ FATEs an hour.
  • I've noticed it's possible to "complete" a FATE without actually being there, as long as you attacked/killing something as you ran by. Would it be possible to run around FATEs attacking things without bothering to complete them?
  • I've been doing the Amaljaa Dailies FATE and had it repop on me instantly after winning before. Was this because the timer was already low and it was due to repop?

Essentially, what's the best FATE spot if your goal is purely speed and sheer number of FATEs and not the exp you get from them? Having to do massive amounts of running around is bad, as are fates that take ages to complete. If there's already a lot of people, that helps.

Any other ideas/suggestions? Or am I doomed to roaming Coerthas for months?

As a general rule, lower level fates, and the kill x creature fates are the fastest, or pick up items off ground fates are fastest. But the kill mob for turn ins and escort ones are pretty easy to get credit for and mvoe on and let other people finish too.
Generalyl speaking Boss fates are the slowest unless there are tons of people there ( but again pretty easy to mooch credit).

Generally I think you'll have the best luck doing fates in pre-level 20 areas. Central shroud is probably too big but aleport, south shroud and central/western thanalan likely have a large number of spawns with generally reasonable distances. Or Coerthas central highlands. I couldn't say whats best but I do reckon that Holiday fates are often a good boon to fate rate in lowbie areas, but no matter how you slice it this achievement is going to take a ton of time.

I have over 2300 FATE completed, but did FATE grinding on at least 3 characters to LV 50....

Former updates mentioned that they take longer to complete if they have more people doing them (previously FATE's would be done by the time you got there). So excluding Boss type FATEs, I don't think it makes a huge difference if it is a busy area or not.

I'd say you're best off in high level areas (ie, North thana) and avoid Boss type FATEs if there are few people:
-Use spirit bond gear/accessories
-Level choco's to make up for fewer people

It will reduce future grinding with your choco and/or help make some money to make up for the mandatory time sink to 3k FATEs.

I'm in the "lower level zone" camp. Fates are on a timer, so it's really a matter of how many in a zone you can get to reliably. I personally think Central Shroud would be a decent one, as there are no 45+ level fates. All of the fates you'd sync down to a respectable amount higher.

Lackies mentioned that central shroud is pretty spread out, but since I'm pretty sure fates are timer based, anyway, a compact zone where you wait around isn't all that much better. All three of the lowbie zone areas are pretty spread out, anyway. The 1-10 zones, at least. With the 10-20 zones, half of the time the fates will be level 45+ ones, which would be noticably more annoying to do with only a handful of people plus Chocos.

I'm happy to to do these with people, but I definitely think the 1-10 zones would be ideal.

your best bet is to get on white mage, go to either ceruleum or dragonhead or a popular lowbie area, cast one regen on someone who is participating in a fate, and then move on to the next one
