Vegas is such a good time. No better place to go for conventions/festivals such as this IMO.

If anyone is going and they end up doing in game items and loot; is someone willing to get the loot for me if I buy a ticket? I'm pretty damned certain I'm not going to be able to swing a weekend trip to Vegas while leaving my pregnant wife at a brand new house a few days before I start at a new station. xD

Also I booked flight and my friend bought hotel, I had miles to use for the trip, so barring the actual event ticket, I will be in Vegas. Anyone confirmed to be attending post here and I will add you to the list, you can PM people if you want to meet up etc, or we can do a big group meet up depending on peeps

It costs about the same for me to fly out and stay in vegas for a weekend as it does to go snowboarding for the day and have a couple of beers at the lodge. It is a very viable possibility. If I go, it will be an impulsive decision made the week prior. lol

I've been to Vegas about 492 times (it's close) flights to Vegas and decent hotels are usually reasonable $$ wise. I've stayed at the Rio before and it's pretty nice. It's far enough from the main strip that you avoid "most" of the craziness, while close enough to take a $5 cab and enjoy yourself. They have some cool bars and a cool atmosphere with random Mardi Gras type shows where a float circles around and beads are thrown at you.

I'll never forget the time I waited in line for about 20 minutes for the Rio buffet. Right when I got to the front of the line, I saw a girl run out of the dining area and projectile vomit all over the floor. It made me pretty thrilled about my upcoming dining experience. Fortunately I didn't have the same reaction to the food (she probably drank too much, you will see plenty of that in Vegas). I've actually eaten there a few times since lol. It's a pretty decent buffet.

While you may not spend much on flight and hotel, you can spend A LOT on food, drink, and gambling pretty easily. You can be smart about it and save (make your own drinks in your room, loiter around slot machines with $1 waiting for free drinks from waitresses, etc) If you go to the strip and cruise the nicer casinos (Ceasars, Wynn, Bellagio, etc) you should watch the way people gamble. You will see people with thousands of dollars stacked in front of them just blowing it like it's nothing. It's pretty wild.

The people watching is superb. I've been a lot of places and never enjoyed people watching as much as Vegas. Not even close. Go to bar on the strip with a patio and just watch the craziness that happens 24/7 out there.

Yah, I won 5 bucks on a Michael Jackson slot machine, and I thought I was the bee's knees.

Then I wont 20 bucks on the Walking Dead slot machine, and it was even better!

What I learned on my trip to vegas, though, would be to go to as many places as you can where you get a free drink for dropping a 20 in the machine. Get your drink (watered down some, of course), and cash out!

Then move on to the next place and get another drink the same way. Drinks are so expensive. haha.

^^^ true dat

I went to a bar in New York New York once and a friend ordered a redbull and vodka. It was $20. The sad thing is if you sit at a table or a machine, the waitresses will bring you that exact same drink for free (give a $1 tip). And you have a chance to win some $$ with that $20.

That's definately the smarter way to do it.

I've never won big in Vegas, but I've never lost big either. I usually average out. The last time I went was my bachelor party. I spent a lot of $$ but won it all back on a hot craps table and more-or-less broke even. Which is great since I go to Vegas planning to lose "x" amount. If I come back with some of the money I planned to lose, it feels like I came out ahead lol.

If drinking is winning, then I'm a fucking champion.

If not drinking is winning, I'm a big loser.
