Nobody is crashing their cars today, so I have nothing better to do than find comprehensive posts on other forums and post them here.

This is a crazy post about confirmed future patch content. It's insane, but kind of a little exciting as well.

http://www.bluegartr.com/threads/122723 ... Interviews
I copy pasted the entire damn thing and it's in this spoiler, if you're not into link clicking.

Spoiler: show
FFXIV: A Realm Reborn - Articles and [Translated] Interviews
I think I've compiled enough information to warrant it's own thread, so I will just post it here and update the OP as interviews are posted and/or translated. Below is a comprehensive list of additions that Yoshi-P and co. have planned for the various patches to be implemented in game. These additions have been directly lifted from the various interviews and Live Letters that Yoshi-P holds. As we all know, there is tons of information going around concerning the game, especially now that the fact that Yoshi-P is something of a celebrity now and travels constantly to do Live Letters and interviews. This cycle will go well into 2015 and 2016, so I've called it upon myself to archive all of the blurbs, spoilers, and teases that he and his devs let loose for the coming patches. People can also get a general idea of what has been greenlighted, what has been delayed, what has been canceled, and what is still just ideas and being discussed.

This will also serve as an archive for all of Slycer's translations as well, for future reference. Due to recent developments with two companies who shall not be named, I will not be deep-linking articles of any kind outside of the Official Forums or Slycer's in-house translations. I will however make mention and credit where the blurbs come from, as well as the date.

07/27/2014 -- Added new information from Japan Expo 2014. Updated with information from Letter LIVE XVI.

07/06/2014 -- Removed 2.3 Patch Notes & Speculation.

06/19/2014 -- Updated with Slycer's most recent translation of the special E3 interview. Added a section for Slycer's translations as well, this will serve as an archive of all of his previous translations, as soon as I fish them all out. I also added the translated information of the 2.28 .dat files that covers Rogue abilities under the 2.4 section.

06/15/2014 -- I currently pulled from the knowledge-base as far back as version 2.1. I'll go back even further if I spot ideas that seem to persist up until today via interviews & Live Letters. Of course, I'll also re-arrange and add additional information as it's released. 2.3 info will be removed a week before patch. Information for the most upcoming patch is 90~95% accurate. This is due to developers having a tendency to have a last minute change just before the patch drops. So don't expect 100% accuracy ever.

Pretty interesting read.

Everyone had been saying that THF was the new class and NIN was the new job, and that really made me sad that a classic job from FF1 would be relegated to "class" status. In classic Ryan fashion, I bitched about it a day, or two, ago that they should have used the term Rogue instead, and then left THF available as a split job (like SCH/SMN), or something.

So I'm hoping that BG's use of the word "Rogue" is legitimate. I want bona fide THF jobs at some point.

The 3.0 stuff doesn't seem all that surprising. It's pretty obvious it's Ishguard focused, as it should be, since we've been wanting to see it for close to 4 years now.

I wonder what the new beastman tribe will be for Shiva, since it's brand new. Gigas had been the pretty obvious guess.

Did you not see the video when it was announced? It was called Rogue right there in the video.

It was confirmed as it was announced that Rogue is the class and Ninja is the job. Rogue is the dual-dagger wielding class that uses fast attacks/poison/throwing knives/etc. The Ninja job basically adds Ninjutsu on top of it, made by combining various hand-seals in different combinations to produce different elemental effects.

EDIT: I mean, for all intents and purposes, it's basically a thief though. They said they didn't want to have "Thief" because it wouldn't make sense in FFXIV's world for a thieves guild to be knowingly hanging out in the middle of town.

This is actually correct according to FF1, however, where the Thief advanced job (Bahamut Class Change/Upgrade) is Ninja.

For the most part. the tomestone/oils from CT didn't generate too much ire.

I don't really know the droprate, but supposing a 33% droprate (roughly), you'd be looking at a static group of 8 people needing to run it ~24 times for each person to get one of the rare drops.

Heck can an oil and tomestone even drop from the same chest, or are they locked together? Could take more than 24 runs to get everyone in the static an oil, if that were the case.

On that note, I'd probably totally be down for forming an oil static farming party for this purpose, if it seemed feasible. haha. Blah blah blah, hunts broke the game, whatever. I'll defend the hunt purchasables, but I haven't been able to stomach hunts enough to actually farm as much of the items as those I've argued against on the topic (except pie - she's the only one jeebus would let cast the first stone)

The argument for rogue as the title is an extremely weak one. The FF series had lots of examples of thief guilds openly operating. It could have existed quite in the same way pirates exist within Limsa. Not exactly official but too powerful or lack of evidence to do anything about it. I don't understand the lore wherein thieves are not ok but pirates are. They're just thieves on boats after all.

Also they could have either put it in a off site, or made a secret underground society like they had in Jueno. There's just so many more interesting possibilties that feel left unexplored. It makes me feel that the thieves are bad mmmkay line is pr because they wanted to keep the classes named things that aren't ff job titles and are found in other games.

That being said, it would be nice if THF makes a comback as a full fledged job in the future.

Cloud of Darkness & the Four Warriors of Darkness

This is what matters most. Even though the Warriors of Darkness were heroes in FF3 I'm at least happy to see the name mentioned.

Meanwhile the note on looking into Dragoon's magic defense is intriguing. As it stands Dragoon has the same defense balance as mages but reverse, ie: physical defense second only to a tank, but the worst magic defense of all classes.

A battle at some point with Nidhogg, who is only referred to in the Dragoon storyline, will be exciting along with the eventual expansion of Odin's story. There's already a side quest series which sheds a touch of light on Odin's background involving Urth and a war in a bygone era. Aside from that there's only his flavor text during combat. Odin's story and involvement in FFXI was one of my favorite things.
