I'd just like to inform people that adjusting the stats on your Novus is actually not as painful a procedure as you might imagine.

When you talk to Jalzahn after completing your Novus, you can ask for your Sphere Scroll back. He'll return it to you, and it will still be infused with the 75/75 materia.

Note: You do NOT lose your Novus weapon when you do this. You will now have your completed Novus AND your fully-infused Sphere Scroll.

Take the scroll to the guy at the Goblin camp, and he can remove materia from the sphere scroll, one at a time. You can choose which stats are removed, it doesn't matter which order they were originally infused. Reapply materia to the Sphere Scroll (you'll need more Alexandrite) until it is 75/75 again and then take the scroll back to Jalzahn and he'll reapply the scroll onto your Novus weapon, replacing the stats with the new scroll.

This means that you can complete your Novus now with some less than ideal stats (e.g. no Tier IV), get a Novus weapon, and then fix the stats in your own time afterwards.

Example:
  • Infuse Novus: 75/75. 33 Crit. 23 DET. 19 Acc. = No Tier IV Materia.
  • Obtain Novus.
  • Buy a new Sphere Scroll (3 Superior Ink / 1500 Myth).
  • Ask Jalzahn to copy your Novus stats onto the Sphere Scroll.
  • Still have Novus.
  • Remove the 19 Acc from Scroll.
  • Soulglaze your Novus to begin upgrading it to Nexus.
  • Slowly reapply DET IV and Crit IV materia over the next month or so as you make money and/or prices drop.
  • Reinfuse Sphere Scroll.
  • Novus is changed to 44 Crit. 31 DET.

Still waiting on confirmation that this does not reset the "light" on a soulglazed weapon (only been a day, nobody has enough light to test), but since you never lose the weapon and you apparently don't need to do the soulglazing procedure again, it's likely that it isn't reset.

In theory, nothing stops you doing this one stat at a time if you don't mind having to take your sphere scroll back and forth. You could remove a single 1 Acc, add a single 1 DET, and reinfuse the Novus each time you're able to afford a Tier IV DET materia.

EDIT: Nope. You have to buy a new Sphere Scroll (3 inks / 1500 myth) for Jalzahn to use to copy the stats onto. Doing it one stat at a time would cost you a shit ton of myth. Still much better than the presumed alternative of starting with a 0/75 Scroll.

haha,

That is pretty damned cool. I'm happy to hear that. Really glad I didn't blow the millions of gil on the novus perfect stat thing. It'll let you fish for better deals on the tier 4 materia

Quick edit of the above. You have to buy a scroll for Jalzahn to use: 3 Inks / 1500 Myth.
