WHAT THE GOD DAMN FUCK

Job Name Conditions
Paladin Gladiator level 30 and conjurer level 15.
Monk Pugilist level 30 and lancer level 15.
Warrior Marauder level 30 and gladiator level 15.
Dragoon Lancer level 30 and pugilist level 15.
Bard Archer level 30 and conjurer level 15.
White Mage Conjurer level 30 and gladiator level 15.
Black Mage Thaumaturge level 30 and pugilist level 15.

Paladin and Warrior are the only two on that list that make sense. Maybe Bard too. But Conj and Glad? Thaum and Pug?

read down, for some reason you can equip some abilities from other classes but only 2 chosen classes that make no sense.
For instance, to be a dragoon you must level lancer and pugalist to unlock, but then you can only equip archer abilities from outside of those jobs.

What? Why? Why'd they even throw that into the mix last minute? I thought the point of jobs was that you could only equip abilities from that actual job. It just muddies the entire thing up by being over complicated.
I really wish they had just gone with a straight froward conversion of the classes into jobs and dropped the classes altogether. I'm afraid this new system is going to feel cumbersome, confusing and pointless to any potential new players.

Course, I haven't tried it myself yet obviously I'm not trying to poo-poo it, I'm just worried that its not a very marketable idea to anyone besides those who have been beta testing and just want anything at all new.

It's not like getting something to level 15 is going to take long. Most people had most classes to at least 20 for all of the abilities pre-ability-reform anyway. It says right in the update notes that it's because they don't want people anchoring themselves to a job/single role without trying to level more than one class.

If you don't have something at 15 I bet somebody could power level it to 15 in like 20 minutes.

As Kio says, the more interesting information is which classes each job is allowed to use abilities from.

Yeah, it sucks how Raise is going to be limited to a few jobs.

originally they said you cant use any cross abilities once you convert to job, they probably will still be balancing things and maybe even eventually let you pick any 5 abilities from any class you want, hopefully anyway

Black mage doesn't even get cure. They get their job and class based nukes, and then they get PUG and ARC skills.

Simple and intuitive! I mean, really dumb.

I think what really annoys me the most is the fact that I've never had an interest in playing DoW. It's pretty annoying that as a mage, the only other abilities I can get come from DoW.

Yeah, I recall that the whole point wasn't that jobs would replace classes, but rather that you'd get a choice based on what you're going to be doing.

If you're going to be JUST a nuker, you be black mage because it'll be better at it. But if your party make-up is low on healing and you're going to need to help cure/etc, then you go as Thaumaturge instead. Similarly, you choose Paladin if you need to be JUST a tank, but switch back to Gladiator if you intend to help DD in any way (while farming a beastman stronghold, etc).
