The game's new opening FMV.

First few minutes is the same as "End of an Era" if you want to skip ahead.

Also, beta test application is open. If you have a Legacy account you don't need to apply for PC, however you can still apply for PS3 beta.

EU: http://entry.ffxiv.com/beta/eu

If you registered your copy of FFXIII back in the day, you should still have a SE MEMBERS code in your e-mail somewhere. You can use it for priority PS3 beta, as originally promised 3 years ago.

That video isnt very good. Im confused by what happened. Aside from the party appearing, it almost looks like everyone just dodged the explosions.

oh and I applied for the PS3 beta. This better not F me up for the PC beta.

It's the opening FMV, I assume it's completely intentional that nothing is actually explained. They want you to actually play the game, after all.

I applied for PS3 too. We get into PC phase 1 regardless due to having a Legacy account, and the notes said to apply anyway if you want PS3 beta too. I may not even use the PS3 version, but it might be nice for leaving it running when I want to use my PC for something else.

If you read the application notes, it says that progress made on your 1.0 character in beta phase 4 will transfer over to launch. So we even get a little bit of a head start.

I'm scared to log in to check my email address because of moving into my new house. I don't wanna go through any hassle of getting locked out because of it.

Hot tip: You never get IP locked out of your account if you link and use your security token that came with the collectors edition -- because it makes somebody stealing your account, without physically stealing the dongle from your house, impossible.

Finally omg! I hope other phases of beta allow us to leave the grid area. I already explored every nook and cranny in alpha. I'm still excited though.

It's a little hard to tell from the small screenshots, but the lighting looks better, things dont seem quite so... flat (?) like it did in Alpha.

Pictures for the lazy:

A few more super small screenshots super secretly hidden away (on the blog):

Supposedly from a video that was "premiered" -- one would imagine we'll also get said video in the next couple of days.

Oh, one last thing. Beta invites are supposedly on their way out.

I think I may just give the entire linkshell access to the beta forum, since I can't imagine there's anybody here that didn't get Legacy and guaranteed phase 1 beta. Heck, there was barely anybody here that didn't get Alpha.
