Ran the benchmark again at my full resolution (edited the ini file)... also noticed that it's not using SLI, didn't even bother too look at the other GPU before. One day SE will get it right...

Anyways... new score on maximum:

What the hell. Did you make it run full-screen or something?!

Yeah Ket. In ffxivbenchmarklauncher.ini, go to the bottom and change the resolution to whatever you want, save the file, then start the test. It keeps all your settings but it adjusts to your new resolution (still in a bordered window).

Oh I meant being able to run it in proper DirectX full-screen, which usually gives you a performance boost over windowed.

I assumed that's how you managed to get a score over twice your last score despite the higher resolution.

Haha, yeah, I figured that's what you meant. I don't think you can truly get it to run in full screen though... sure you can script to remove the borders from the window, but it's not the same.

FYI, the reason that score is so high... is because it glitched out on me lol. At the very end, you know how it goes to a blank white screen for a few seconds? Well the first time I ran the test at 2560x1600 it stayed on that white screen for a while... so I think the score was still cranking up during that time ;).

Maybe I could get somewhere near there, if SLI worked in the benchmark... but it would probably be closer to 14k/15k.

I'm hearing people say that the benchmark seems to be more CPU constrained than GPU. And I think I heard SE say that SLI won't be enabled until a later phase (don't remember which one, if they said), but at least it sounds like they're going to make it work this time.

As long as my graphics card doesn't go into nuclear overdrive whenever I walk past any bushes or trees I'll be happy.

Ditto, I hated that shit. Same thing with aetheryte camps.

I would be the only person at camp bald knoll. Walk to the aether camp GPU BOOST!!! 99%!!! Then walk a few yalms outside of the aether ring, back down to 30%. So stupid. It didn't even matter if the aether was in my point of view. It seemed every camp had a hidden process that pushed GPUs hard for no good reason.

From what I understand of SLI, it does not work properly when something is running in full screen. To get a full SLI experiance you need to be in full screen. I could be 100% wrong, but Im pretty sure this comes down to an issue with Directx, not the game itself.

Im surprised that no one has said anything about the giant Adamantoise walking around in the background of one of the outdoor scenes. All you can see is the head, but that thing looks to be the biggest model Ive ever seen in FFXIV.

You will get to see them in Beta :) They had them in Alpha. Krel and I went hunting for them, and watched some losers exploit killing them by standing on top of a bridge and using ranged attack.

You couldn't leash stuff in alpha. Well, you could, but monsters that are busy running back to their home point are now invincible, making the whole process somewhat convoluted.

Managed to fix it - I guess there must of been something wrong with the files. All it took was to delete and re-download the benchmark.

Anyways, the custom test is everything cranked up and checked, including LoD/Occ. Culling. Not much of a difference between the two. Honestly I'm somewhat disappointed, expected a 7970 OC'd to 1100/1490 and an OC'd i5-2500k to do better. Still way better than my 6950 would of done.

I saw a lot of people with AMD cards aren't scoring as high... probably driver related and should be fixed in the future.

With AMD, it's always driver related.

I installed the nvidia drivers that came out last week and lost 1,000 points on the benchmark, rolled back and it was fine. Just need to find the right combo for your card.
