I've read a few rumors,

Wednesday:
* The price of dark matter is going to be drastically reduced

Version 2.1
* Dutyfind will have an option of pairing you with players from Hyperion only
* Character screen will show a value for your gear, such that if you are well-geared, it might say Avg iLevel 55, whereas if you are undergeared it will say Avg iLevel 38
* Dutyfind will have a gear requirement, such that undergeared players will not be able to dutyfind a particular dungeon.

Anyone heard these or can confirm? That last one would be very useful.

I can only imagine they are coming at some point. Even blizzard had the foresight to include gear level restrictions in the same patch that added their dungeon finder.

He seems to allude to it in a prior letter:

Q29: You have shown us many rewards that we will be able to obtain in ARR. How will crafted gear impact the game?
A29: In ARR, every gear is assigned with an item level. These item levels are also tied with the difficulty of each instanced dungeon. For example, let’s say you challenge a higher-level instanced dungeon without meeting the item level requirement. Players will be able to able to fill the missing item level via crafted items. Also, players will be able to unlock new crafting recipes by completing content. We’ll make sure the crafters will be able to shine in many aspects of the game!

edit: I should add that the next content patch would be logical because if there are already undergeared issues for vanilla content, adding more, higher level content would only exacerbate the issue.

We are aware of the problems with regards to dungeons. The development team is now working on these matters, and will continue to keep you updated.

• There will be a large decrease in the value of dark matter and repair costs. Dark matter will also now be available at high-level locations, in addition to this decrease.

• High level dungeons will now have an item level check as part of the entry criteria. This also applies to hard mode primal battles, and players who do not meet the ILevel criteria will not be able to participate. We will also be adding an average ILevel stat in the character window.

• A "Local World Only" option will be added to the dungeon finder. This is not a checkbox, but more of a bulletin board where parties looking for X Role of Y Level will be able to post their requests. Please hang on for more details.

Point 1 will be added after the 12th of September maintenance. Points 2 and 3 will only arrive after patch 2.1

They are going to have to retool the ilevel system in this game though. It is completely arbitrary and does not follow actual stat budgeting. You have weapons like thundercloud that are ilevel 50 yet have higher dmg and dps than the ilevel55 crafted/GC weapons. There is no distinction between NQ and HQ as far as ilevel is concerned. Aetherial and green quality ilevel 45ish rings are way better than even the ilevel49 crafted HQ rings. Ilevel only seems to matter at all if you are comparing two items of the same rarity color which defeats the purpose of listing an ilevel at all

i dont like the idea of restricting people based on gear. it really isnt fair to players who dont have the time to devote to it.

The current setup isn't fair to the geared people though. I don't think it's unreasonable to have a requirement on harder content. I suppose they could add a checkbox where you can choose to party with anyone, regardless of gear level but no one will pick that.

I don't think it's intended to "exclude" people, or to keep the elitists away from the slackers, it's intended to stop people doing dungeons before they're ready for it.

If your gear sucks, you do hold the entire party back. Slow ass DPS makes stuff like Demon Wall extremely difficult, and Garuda basically impossible to kill because she'll heal faster than you can hurt her. This causes lots of wiping and lots of frustration, not only for the newer people who can't win, but for the people who ARE geared enough for the fight and normally beat it fine, but can't win because they have random people joined who aren't contributing as much as they should.

It's not that you aren't allowed to fight Titan, it's that you should have better gear first, because your sucky level 38 rings and full AF isn't going to be any help at all when trying to kill Titan's Heart in time. Not only will you not win, but you'll stop 7 other people from winning too. You really gotta pull your weight.

Just do the previous raid/dungeon/primal a few times until you get some dungeon dropped gear to upgrade yourself with first. It'll take less time to get your gear up to scratch than you'll spend throwing yourself at Garuda's feet for days on end.

Incidentally, I bet that it'll let you into the fight if you make your own LS/company party beforehand, just like it lets you in with any old party setup. So it's a moot point for most high end raids anyway. It's just to stop people getting lumbered with severely-undergeared randoms through the duty finder.

I read they're raising the myth cap to 450 in 2.1, but not sure if it's true.

I also read that when a WAR uses Holmgang in 2.1 his HP cannot go below 1.
Vengeance will provide a 30% damage reduction buff
More damage reduction: Storm's Path
Thrill of Battle will last twice as long
Defiance/Wrath healing buff is permanent 20%
Inner Beast HP recovery is nerfed by 200% :( but there is now damage reduction buff with it

So basically they are making WAR a dmg-reduction tank, and not a drain tank

I'm sure healers are quite happy with this change. I posted more in the other thread.

Love the rumors, happy if just half of them are true about WAR.

Two things I read on reddit, not sure if theyre true

1. Awareness (PLD/WAR defensive ability that prevents crits) people are saying it also prevents critical incoming cures..?

2. Stoneskin supposedly mitigates the same amount of damage on a Warrior (base HP 6000 + Defiance = 7200) as it does on a Paladin (base HP 6000)

100% confirmed by myself and Ath last week.

To confirm, find yourself a healer with nothing better to do:

- Spam Cure II until Overcure triggers.
- Overcure gives Cure III a guaranteed critical hit.
- Use Awareness.
- Cast Cure III.
- No critical.
- GG SE.

Awareness was already a somewhat useless skill, but this actually makes it just plain BAD, especially when Scholars and fully geared WHMs rely on critical heals.

I don't use it anymore.
