Once I got within melee range, I dropped like a brick.

my favorite part is that nobody did ANYTHING between those hits.
i didnt see a "begins casting ***" or anything!
They must not love you anymore.

But yeah, there's no delay between hits, poor tooyooo taking 120+ dmg per hit, no wonder didn't last too long >.<

That is pretty much what happened.... except the octopus should be a lot larger.

And like others said, Viviti, those attacks all occurred simultaneously.
I was just running, and then dropped to 0 HP, and then saw a flood of damage scroll up in my log.

It wasn't until I analyzed the screenshot that I realized it was 8 attacks in a row.

Lol, it was just so sudden that Peejo was knocked down I couldn't help but just exclaim =P (not like I don't just randomly swear) anyway) Nice screen shot, Too ~ lol

I would personally like a Joyeuse. I mean, this thing isnt a HNM exactly, just an NM (with a Kraken Club ><), so what kinda party am I looking at to kill it?

We had almost full alliance for the several times we faught it.

It really isn't that bad unless it's just bad luck. The normal hits are in 70 and 80s range. It goes up and down. You won't go toe to toe with it unless you have a nin tank with good evasion gear. For a pld tank, you kite it. I had earth staff and jelly ring set up since it doesn't do magic dmg. The only bad thing is it can do 8 attacks from seems like 1 attack. So basically if anyone other than the tank get caught in that, he's pretty much dead.

If you can survive the militant from dynamis bastok, you can survive charydbis.

Hmm, if we are talking about a full alliance of 75s, I guess I got some time to wait, lol. I could probably make about 2 parties of 70ish if i tried. ><

Also, I hate kiting, usualy I end up running into a wall because I cant see where I'm going and where the mob is at the same time, lol.

Time to learn how to kite~

If you play 3rd person mode, it's probably time to switch to 1st. I can't run with 3rd person mode (hand-eye coordination problem probably), so most of the time I use 1st person mode unless I am just standing there and go toe to toe with the mob (i.e. fafnir - we won @ our first try last night~)

Kiting is a must for a pld heavy ls like CKD. It's almost impossible to go toe to toe with 4 Gods in sky as a pld.

If you have a lot of rmd, and blm, you probably have a pretty good chance with your set up. Gravity is the key. Bind and Stun will help as well.

Okay... I have a noob question for you all. What exacting is "kiting" or "kite?" I've heard it mentioned a few times now, and I'm not sure what it means.

kiting is the tank runs around with the monster chasing him/her and not just standing there taking hits. just run it around throwing vokes and flashes and shit at it. keeping gravity on the mob so it dont catch the tank is key, and bind/stun it when things get sticky
